Not so much that I like Kaspersky.
It's that it is the corporate standard for laptop ... and get free license for up to 3 other PC's ... so that is reason I use it on 4 devices.
I have raised a tkt with Kaspersky, they are aware of issue as linked it to other tkts.

Update on this ... raised a support tkt on Kaspersky, (My ticket is ID INC000003905464
)and have spent last 3 weeks installing test versions, configs.
Update is there is a formally accepted bug reportI have been informed that a bug issue (814070) has been created, and is with developers for resolution - no fix yet.
Hope this does not take too long been about 4 months so far.
They do advise workaround of booting into safemode to do downloads .... but that would mean PC being open to internet with no antivirus or firewall - too risky

Now at least three months every time I try to install the program of the day I get the message: FILE CORRUPTED, TRY TO DOWNLOAD AGAIN. Of course any attempt nothing changes. It seems a mockery. Use both Windows 7 that 8.1 on different PCs with Kaspersky antivirus and updated daily. Do you have any explanation ??? Regards, Beppemorgan

...Do you have any explanation ???...
I think you'll find the answer in this thread.

There is an issue with GAOTD and the way it packages files; combined with the way Kaspersky works.
I have no trouble with any other sites, only GAOTD.Unless GAOTD changes the way it distributes files or Kaspersky change how they detect malware ... users are screwed.
Been this way for about 6 months.Posted 9 years ago # -
beppemorgan, what you're experiencing is an ongoing issue with Kaspersky and a tiny number of computers. Kaspersky sees the wrapper as a threat and is quarantining files which then makes the download.
The only known work around for Kaspersky is to boot in safe mode with networking, install the program and then reboot normally.
The security problem isn't isolated to Kaspersky (or GOTD). The July 15th release of Virtualbox had an issue with anti-virus software that still hasn't been fixed for some anti-virus packages. You can read about the problem (4.3.14 conflicts with anti-virus packages) and follow the links to updated versions until you get to the latest version which still has problems on some systems (Windows 4.3.22 specifically for errors due to security).
One big difference in the Virutalbox forum posts is this requirement:
As in the previous (4.3.14 through 4.3.20) discussions, the purpose of this topic is to gather diagnostic data needed to solve the hardening issues, and nothing else. Wibble posts, opinion posts, and posts that don't include necessary diagnostics will most likely be deleted. If a test build is created then you'll be expected to have tried it before you post.
GOTD uses third party software to create the wrapper and doesn't collect any diagnostic data. If you want a solution then you should follow the path taken by Argonaut and post on the Kaspersky Forum. This is not an issue that GOTD can fix. The lack of diagnostic data is probably the biggest impediment to finding a solution.

Tried both links you give for the issue on 'virtual box'
Both open a page with error 'The requested topic does not exist.'Can you provide any further information.
Posted 9 years ago # -
That's odd, both open fine for me. Perhaps the site was down?
Anyway, try this link to the main VirtualBox Forum (or go to VirtualBox.org, select "Community" then "Forums")
Then select "VirtualBox on Windows Hosts" and you'll find the following posts that were specifically created for people to post issues about their a/v programs. There are many other similar posts but those below were created to consolidate the problem.
Windows 4.3.22 specifically for errors due to security (on page 1)
Windows 4.3.16 specifically for errors due to security (on page 1)
Windows 4.3.20 specifically for errors due to security (on page 1)
4.3.14 conflicts with anti-virus packages (currently on page 21, last post is Sept 10th, 2014)IMO, the problem (and yours) relates to changes made with the release of Windows 8.1 that are causing unexpected difficulties.

works OK now ... as you said ... maybe site was down.
Kaspersky have replied today that they will be issuing a patch to fix this ... no date though.
Posted 9 years ago # -
If anyone else has this issue, it is a known bug by Kaspersky.
They admit it is for them to fix ... but they are not exactly rushing to resolve.
Please if you have the same problem ... raise a tkt with Kaspersky, if you want to refer my support ticket ... it is INC000003905464

Just an update ...
Now been 9 months and while Kaspersky admit it's a bug, they still have no date for resolution.
It seems very poor that they can't even tell me a road map for the fix ....If anybody else has the issue please log the fault with a ticket

Not so much that I like Kaspersky.
It's that it is the corporate standard for laptop ... and get free license for up to 3 other PC's ... so that is reason I use it on 4 devices. Now been 9 months and while Kaspersky admit it's a bug, they still have no date for resolution.
It seems very poor that they can't even tell me a road map for the fix ....I have a 5 device license for McAfee that I got with a 240GB OCZ SSD for a total of $25 after MIR. I have run McAfee for years, buying 3 PC licenses for around $7-$10 per year. I've run Bitdefender the last few years [we had an AMD rig & McAfee stopped working on it], & haven't paid more than $15 for a 3 PC license. I've seen many, many ads for about a dozen brands for free after MIR, though many required a $50 - $60 initial purchase. Microsoft Security Essentials is bundled in win10. There are other giveaway sites that almost constantly run 6-12 month licenses for Bitdefender & other brands for free. Many companies also offer free versions, sometimes limited only with regards to the bells & whistles like a secure folder or wallet in Windows.
As far as Kaspersky being a corp standard... their decision may be based on someone's relationship with some salesperson etc., or that person may or may not be best in class, or they may use Kaspersky on their IT structure & this was part of the deal [being customer friendly, or not, is often thought a non-issue re: corp server &/or network security]. As far as Kaspersky being free, if you have 3 PCs, IMHO spending at most $5 per PC per year isn't much of an issue.
In fact, using GOTD it's probably hard Not to save more than $5 per PC a year. If you look at it that way, Kaspersky's costing you money, even if it is free. I don't run Kaspersky for other reasons, & I use VMs in a way that makes problems of this sort irrelevant, but if things were different [if I ran Kaspersky & didn't use VMs], I'd wipe Kaspersky off my system & use another brand, simply because booting into Safe Mode over the course of a year isn't worth $5 to me. So I'd skip one trip to McDonald's. ;)
Technically speaking, the issue is that DRM is designed to be unbreakable. When you stream video from say Amazon or Netflix etc. DRM isn't an issue for security software, but when you run a software executable [program] with DRM, there's no way to tell if the software that's inside that DRM is safe or not. Very basically, you can take GOTD's word for it, or not, &/or you can rely on your package's heuristic detection once the actual setup routine starts. This is Not a problem for most brands of security software, which to me means that it's Kaspersky's intention re; how their software works [or doesn't].
Some companies have more of a customer-centric attitude than others -- when it comes to security software, the more customer-centric the company is, the less chance you'll have of their software effecting you using your PC/laptop. So in choosing security software you can look at reviews on how well it allegedly works [av-test.org], or you can look at consumer reviews at retailers like Amazon [http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=sr_st_review-rank?fst=as%3Aoff&rh=n%3A229534%2Cn%3A!491286%2Cn%3A229677%2Cn%3A2251987011%2Cp_n_operating_system_browse-bin%3A359850011&qid=1437320963&bbn=2251987011&sort=review-rank], or base your buying decision on both.
"Unless GAOTD changes the way it distributes files or Kaspersky change how they detect malware ... users are screwed."
Not at all...
Kaspersky runs their biz the way they see fit. The way they run their biz does raise some eyebrows here & there, as does speculation concerning possible government ties, but in an open market we're free to choose what security software we run, so it's the buyer's problem if/when they make a bad choice. Worst case someone's out the cash they spent on Kaspersky, which if they watched the sales shouldn't be too much [if anything]. It's the consumer's responsibility to research whatever before they buy -- if GOTD is important to someone, and if the cash they spend is important, hopefully they performed that research 1st & avoided the issue entirely.
As far as GOTD goes, it is what it is -- again the open market stuff applies. They had a system that people could have honored -- people did not. They changed that system with the end goal of being able to offer more quality & selection -- whether people honored the new system or not was made irrelevant. If that causes anyone any hassles, the people to blame [assuming you feel the need to blame anyone] would be those who abused GOTD's old setup. That said, after the GOTD team went to great lengths tweaking their new system, by far the vast majority of users do not have any complaints whatsoever.
For anyone to be *screwed* they would have to be *forced* to use GOTD plus security software that was/is often incompatible -- no one is forced to do either. A free market = free choice -- no one can blame someone else for the choices that they made or make.

Argonaut, thanks for the update. Sadly, unless there are suddenly a bunch of people with the same issue then you're likely SOL. The number of users reporting the problem doesn't justify any significant resource commitment from Kaspersky. A VM is probably the only viable solution.
Mikiem, I differ a bit on the "corporate license". If the company provides one then it's imperative that you use it. Even if the software is substandard or selected for dubious reasons, prudence dictates the use.
If there's ever an issue at the company you must be able to certify that your goat has always been secured in the pen before the "scaping" starts. The first rule of any bureaucracy is "protect the bureaucracy" and the second rule is "punish the innocent". If you had nothing to do with a problem, but didn't mindlessly follow all of the "recommendations", then you're the logical choice for termination. Those responsible for the problem will get promoted and have their budgets increased.

Poor wording on my part...
I didn't even think of replacing Kaspersky on a company laptop -- figured you don't install *your* software on company hardware, so anything GOTD related would be a non-issue. My only thought was countering the possible argument that if corp IT says use Kaspersky, it's gotta be good. I should have considered the possibility.
" If you had nothing to do with a problem, but didn't mindlessly follow all of the "recommendations", then you're the logical choice for termination."
FWIW my views on corp bureaucracy [on any bureaucracy really] are probably south of yours, but I always try to mince words when I'm afraid that my opinion may be too strong & turn people off.
The fun part is creatively being more mindless than even they expect. ;) That & various funtime activities to keep folks on their toes & uncertain. Completely coincidentally, I've *read* for example that if you very slowly raise someone's desk, perhaps by sticking a washer or 2 under each leg for a period of time, they won't notice until you remove them all at once. I've also read it can be a bit amusing observing office interactions when someone's convinced they miraculously grew taller, though I personally would never dream of such things. ;)
"Those responsible for the problem will get promoted and have their budgets increased."
The most qualified are a threat to job title & security -- their best hope perhaps being also thought dangerous enough to be transferred, hopefully a step up in an enemy's domain. The amount of personnel under a mgr reflects their budget which is a the closest thing to a direct measure of their power. Bureaucracy is a symbiont community as lifeform.
