I also can't figure out how to uninstall it as it doesn't appear in any of the uninstallers

Have you right clicked the icon and selected properties? Then click "Find Target". That will take you to the folder. There should be an uninstaller there. Was it not in Windows Add/Remove Programs?

I am having a problem, with this game, also, but un a different way.
After I downloaded it, unzipped it, and sucessfully activated it, I did not get a wizard to install it, like I usually do. Where do I find the installation wizard?Posted 17 years ago # -
Shalom Rabbi!
Hello Archangel ;)I'm getting the same error too. :( And breakout games are my favorites.
The game launches for me without issue. However, after responding to the first screen by choosing 1280 x 1024 resolution - the game launched into its loading screen, (nice graphics) where it hung, crashed, then finally threw up the error message.
I tried to uninstall it with my uninstaller, but couldn't find it listed there - it's not in Add/Remove programs either.
I've rebooted twice, the error still occurs and I can't uninstall it! If this was intended by Merscom, then it's just bad business practice.
I'd be interested/very appreciative to hear if anyone else can find out how to uninstall the game. I had thought that it was perhaps a corrupted file (happens sometimes when you download files,) and had planned to uninstall, re-download and re-install. But I guess I'm stumped at step 1. :/

P.S.
Forgot to mention that David ensures that I always have the latest video card and Direct X software. In fact, he's maximized every advantage for me with GotD games in general now.

Lee,
Before you say anything - I did NOT post twice. I don't know WHY it does that - to me there is NO advantage with posting messages twice.

Swan......
I believe that you did not install ball 7
why?
because you UNZIPPED it
just delete the files to "uninstall" the game
also,
try to use not to use 1280*1024, use the other and see if it works
or
rezip the files and see if it works
sorry that it did not work for you
good luck!Posted 17 years ago # -
I tried all settings and it still crashes to the desktop. the setup.exe file just unzippes the game and puts in a certain file but I don't think that it actually installs it.
thanks for all your help, hopefully, sometime before it closes I can figure out what to do so that I can playPosted 17 years ago # -
did it install a shortcut on the desktop? Some programs don't use any extra drivers than what you already have therefore all that will happen is a folder installed and a shortcut placed on the desktop. I'm not saying this is the case in this game, but its becoming more and more common. Opp's the installer will install registry keys in most instances.
Since I don't do many and didn't install it, I can't help troubleshoot it. I can tell you that there is no virus, trojan or malware though.

no, it did not install a shortcut to the desktop

hey folks - I'm having the same problems - I'm on xp home - unzipped to the folder of my choice/no shortcut on the desktop/goes to the resolution choice screen/I've tried 2 different resolutions to no avail/the Blue Fish page comes up/then the page that says it's loading/and that's where it dies/I get the dialog box ball7 is having a problem and needs to close/it isn't in Add/Remove listing nor can CCleaner find it to uninstall/
this is a first for me - I'll also be awaiting some feedback

Hey everyone,
Thanks for all replies and to the input of those that are having the same issue as I am.
Since we're not really getting any assistance, OR input from Merscom, I've taken this over to Bladed Thoth's forum. He's given me some fantastic assistance there in the past, when I haven't even had a nibble here.
I've only just posted it there now (9:30pm PST) so I wouldn't check for a little while yet. However, I don't like our chances of being able to have a fix before the give away is over.
I should really have taken it over there much earlier rather than wait most of the day.

Of course, he could post here - and benefit ALL of the GOTD users instead.
Sorry,
I am just downloading it now - so I'll have a look at it. I've had some issues elsewhere and haven't been able to address all of the posts in the forums today.

Well first impressions.
Crap / Lazy installer.A Self-extracting exe is not an installer.
Just installed to C:\Games
Game is launched by C:\Games\Ball7\ball7.exe
If I want a shortcut - need to create it myself.
To uninstall /remove - just delete the entire folder C:\Games\Ball7
Game runs fine @ all resolutions. One problem - the mouse pointer is not restricted to just the viewport of the current game. I run with multiple monitors - and moving my mouse to the right makes the mouse pointer appear on the right hand screen.
If I click the mouse button while the mouse pointer happens to be over another window - parts of the windows desktop, taskbar & other program windows are brought over the top of the game window.
Amateurish. Potential for a decent game having the first impression ruined because of lazy packaging & testing. (Merscom - snatching defeat from the jaws of victory)

Gotta agree with BuBBy here, I think we had to do too muych work top get this to work.
I tried several resolutions to get it to function properly, but I didn't care for it. The only way i could see to uninstalll was to delete it, which i did. Hopefully, we will get out all of it on next clean up.

Hey Bubby! ;)
Of course, he could post here - and benefit ALL of the GOTD users instead.
Uh huh, he could - but why would he bother when he gets accused of plagiarism in the comments section by people who have a hidden agenda against him? And worse - the comment moderators publish it, instead of censoring it.
No, they'd rather shut down a thread of mine here, TWICE, before I'm even able to respond to the hurtful responses that came my way.
Here's the 2nd thread of mine that got shut down - no explanation and no chance for any responses (bar one.)
You'd be amazed at how many GOTD-ers are registered with Bladed Thoth. The forum is still pretty new and he's just one man with a day job and yet manages to help so many. In fact, if you have a look at some of the names, you'll see people who no longer bother to review on GOTD for one reason or another.
They download the software here and get assistance over there. It works! ;) BT's forum policies are MUCH appreciated by its members, as he doesn't stand for the crap and abuse there, like GOTD (comment) moderators allow here. He'll ban them faster than they can utter their next insulting word - and it's all clear in his forum policies.
I'm beginning to sound like an advertisement for him, but I wanted to explain why I took the topic over there, after I'd tried here first.
You respond more than anyone else here on the forums Bubby. You're helpful, kind, knowledgeable and straight to the point. I appreciate all that you do for this web site - and none of what I've said refers to you. ;)
Anyway, today's game Buko Kakuro also has no installer - being introduced to your hard drive the same way as yesterdays download.
Thanks again for your response Bubby, much appreciated. ;)

(wondering how long before this thread is shut down too.)Posted 17 years ago # -
Swan your logic escapes me.
Are you suggesting he wouldn't post here - because somebody else said something bad about him somewhere else and some other moderators didn't censor the post?
1 - [closed] Revealing Private Information!
2 - [closed] CensorshipIn terms of the first thread - it looks like you jumped the gun with accusations. And some other forum users decided to make a joke of it. To be honest GOTD doesn't actually have any facility or need to ask for anyones name. Check your profile for yourself. There isn't even a "middle name" field. Or "First name" or "surname". As much as it might hurt to admit, GOTD doesn't care what your name is.
If I was to guess what happened, some information was automatically entered because of some software you have installed on your PC - like automatically filling in forms or passwords & usernames. You have submitted a post (with your name) without noticing or checking. GOTD didn't goof, you did.
And then rather than quietly bringing this "issue" to the attention of an administrator that "your privacy" had been breached - you make a public post drawing everybodies attention to it. crazy crazy crazy.
The thread is closed before it goes on any further - and you get upset because you cannot retaliate at the users who made a joke of your reaction at GOTD. I believe Lee did the correct thing in closing the thread. If it was me, I would probably have deleted the entire thread also. (really rather pointless at this late stage now - it's been up such a long time).
I considered sending this privately - but I feel Lee and the Admins probably deserve an explanation (at least from my point of view) appearing - showing they are not as cynical or malicious as a few of the users would have them appear.
I'm always happy to help out - or try to fix problems (if I can) but making inaccurate and misleading statements (like GOTD leaking users private data) I feel deserves correction.
Swan, I realise this is going off topic. If you or anyone else has concerns about this - I am happy to address any issues privately - send me a PM or you can contact the admins via the contact form on the main page. I don't care for public floggings or stonings. Flaming or blatant abuse in these forums is not for GOTD.
This thread is shut down. (Answer 9 hours).
