   Someone mentioned that EA had several games for free including one of the Battlefield series. At the time I though he meant the first in the series, but had forgotten about Battlefield: Heroes a spoof of the series, plus the free online Need for Speed: World. They do have several other games that you can play for free as well, mainly online games. You can find then all HERE

   Here’s the list that you’ll find via the above link, though you’ll also find an image of each game as well. (I don’t have the time to post images at the moment. We are having our annual father’s day dinner with my wife’s parents.

   I registered on the forum just to reply here. Thanks for looking into the EA games + the list of extra free games WR, and for clarifying that the Battlefield offering wasn't the 1st in the series. Now I can stop kicking myself.

   In case anyone is interested (and if your computer is up to par), here is a list of online games Steam recently made available for free:

   It includes MMORPGs like Forsaken World, Champions Online, etc. Note that they may use microtransactions though to recouperate some costs from the "free" offering.

   Sorry, should have searched before I posted...

   Would anyone know if any of these free MMORPGs (or cheap MMOs from other sites) would run on my craptop of 800mhz/1gb/nvidia GPU? I know I'm probably asking too much, but would love some human interaction when I am tired of single-player GoG games... (when does WR or graylox ever find time to sleep?)

   Hey, it's not a problem. Sometimes its useful to post details in a couple of threads.

   I've only installed one of the free to play games as yet. I need to install the new drive I bought as I've finally managed to fill the 2TB drive after having to reinstall all of my Steam games recently after accidentally deleting them all early in May (well, the ones that were installed). I had the computer on for about four weeks downloading steam games 24/7. Still got quite a lot to install, but not till I install the new drive. I already have five HDD's in this computer, 4 ATA and on IDE drive. I'm going to have to remove the smallest ATA drive as there,s no room at the moment for the new one, lol.

   The only one of the EA Online games I have any experience of is the Tiger Woods golf,been playing the game for nearly a year now.Free to play is a bit of a myth because to progress at any decent rate there are 'extras' required,bought with point earned(extra points available for cash,of course).Free play limited,a membership required to access all of the game.

   The basic free game ok if you just want an occasional round of golf,but connections can be dodgy on some days.A few of the players claim to play on 'beaten up old computers' so older/lower spec machines may be ok.

   From what I can gather,EA see cloud gaming as the way forward for pc's now,the games can be 'dumbed down' a bit,with less features and produced cheaper than disc versions.

   I'm not happy with EA at the moment. I bought the new Alice game two days ago. Installed it on my main machine, and then registered it. The darned thing kept crashing after the Unreal engine splash screen had ended. I though, Hmmm, it's on my Steam account so I should be able to install it to my back up machine, which isn't that much different from my main machine. So I installed it, then tried to register it. No it wouldn't because you have to register it via your EA account and they said the reg code was already used. I contacted support, but no solution has been found as yet. Not happy as I really wanted to explore the Grimm related Alice game.

   The only positive thing I'd say about EA now is their support has improved. Within three minutes of sending a request for help I had someone on a IM talking to me. Unfortunately everything they suggested didn't work so I'm left with a game that doesn't work at this time. there are others with the same [problem so I’m hoping an update will fix the problem. In the meantime I'll concentrate on some of my other recent purchases. I highly recommend the platform indie game capsized. Excellent game play, it's different to the usual stuff. I may post a review of it if I get time. :) I got it via that Indie package this weekend. That's still available for another 4 hours. If you haven't already, you should check the deals out. tThere are two Indie packs both with really good indie games. wich you can find brief details of HERE
