Banana Nababa (2.4Mb)
Here is a short review of a very good game, for mid-week. Banana Nababa is a single screen platform boss fighter game. I’m not going bananas by the way at least not yet, anyhow! It is a cool (some might say super-cool!) boss arcade game and I don’t know about going crazy, but it could be quite a craze! Or it could drive me quite crazy!
The game has very retro graphics, very reminiscent of ‘Cave Story’ - which suits the game very well, - in fact brilliantly. You throw axes and spears at each boss, trying to avoid their return fire. You can switch between the spear and axe. Axes have a short but good throwing arc, while spears go further but with a poorer arc path. The difficulty level increases through the six stages, though level 4 is potentially the most difficult, as in insanely hard; but get through stage 4 and there’s a good to fair chance you might beat levels 5 and 6 and win the game!
You don’t have to defeat legions of minions to get to each boss; there are only the bosses to fight. But it ain’t easy! As is usual, learning the bosses movement and fire patterns is the key to success and practice should make tackling each boss (a little!) easier.
Use ‘Arrow’ Keys to Move, ‘C’ or ‘F’ key to Jump, ‘D’ or ‘V’ key to use weapon and ‘Spacebar’ to switch between weapons. ‘Enter’ Pauses/Unpauses, ‘Esc’ = Go back/Restart level/Exit and ‘F4’ toggles Full-screen.
There’s some nice music while you battle/play!
It runs fine in XP and Win 7. You might need to right-click on the game exe in Vista and select compatibility for XP SP2 for it to run in Vista.
You’ll either enjoy this immensely or break a few keyboards in frustration! It might help to know a good barber who can replant any hairs pulled out tackling the later bosses!
It’s an incredibly enjoyable game as each boss fight is vastly different. It may be on the short side, but there’s oodles of replayability here and each boss battle can be quite lengthy! Great game!
