I have been having some serious spyware problems lately (ExitExchange, etc.) Could you guys on the team try to make SpyHunter the giveaway one day? I have heard that it is the best to use and after trying about 20 others, I still haven't had any luck. I downloaded the "trial" version of SpyHunter, but it doesn't allow you to remove the files without buying the software. If you guys on the team or anyone else could help me with this, I'd really appreciate it.

Hi,
If you have a spyware problem, you should really clean it up immediately rather than wait for a giveaway program. There are many free programs that should get rid of this - I'll recommend three that I use regularly.
Spybot Search & Destroy - http://www.spybot.info/en/
Ad-Aware SE Personal - http://www.lavasoftusa.com/products/ad-aware_se_personal.php
Spyware Terminator - http://www.spywareterminator.com/
A possible hitch with offering giveaway software that requires regular updates - such as antivirus, antispyware or security software is that giveaways do not come with support or updates - a giveaway software company will probably be reluctant to provide free software updates and support for an indefinite period into the future (understandably).

Thanks for the help! I have used Ad-Aware for the past few years, along with Crap Cleaner. I will definitely try Spybot and Spyware Terminator. Thanks again!

"SpyHunter -- at least in its current state -- cannot be recommended because of its mediocre performance as an anti-spyware scanner. Testing indicates that it does not recognize some well-known spyware installations and has difficulty removing critical spyware/adware files even from those it does recognize (1). Given the many excellent competing anti-spyware applications that are available (some for free), users would do better looking elsewhere for trustworthy anti-spyware protection"Here is their list of some trustworthy anti-spyware stuff, some of which have been mentioned already in the above post..

May have to resort to the "big guns", manual analysis using "hijackthis" http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/programs.php or "A2 Hijackfree" http://www.hijackfree.com/en/
Actually, Hijackfree does have a useful database of entries, that can mark some as safe, caution or dangerous, but those indications should be taken as a guide only, since they are far from complete.
A2 also offer a free malware scanner, and even an online scanner http://www.emsisoft.com/en/software/ax/
Grisoft (AVG Antivurs free and Pro editions) have also moved into antispyware and anti-rootkit - http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1 - once agian, the free versions do not have the scheduling and continuous protection of the Pro (except the free antivirus, which does have background protection, and very limited scheduling)
