The software is called Immunet [immunet.com], it uses ClamAV & is from Sourcefire -- while Immunet is a bit new, you should be able to find info on Clam AV & Sourcefire if you want to do any background research. You can find some comparative stats for Clam at shadowserver.org. You can also find a lot of info in the ClamAV blog [blog.clamav.net], particularly if you search the blog for immunet.
Background...
Installed XP SP3 on an old win98 laptop with an AMD 400 MHz CPU, 156 MB RAM, & 4 GB hdd, spending ~$20 total on a pcmcia USB 2 card & USB wireless [which of course can also use elsewhere]. It actually runs fairly well for web browsing [use Firefox portable] &/or using less demanding software, but something like McAfee or even the lighter weight Security Essentials [Microsoft] would kill/strangle it. Installed Immunet & if it wasn't for Task Mgr. wouldn't know it was there running.
Conclusion...
Clam's been around quite a while, & the Immunet marketing pitch makes sense, but rather than argue the merits of one AV pkg vs. another, Immunet is lower impact, & sometimes that's *The* major issue... regardless how well it works, & it seems to work fine, better Immunet than nothing at all.
