   Street Fighter 2 (3.7Mb):

   

   Street Fighter 2 is where the entire 2D fighting genre started pretty much, it's only other competition was the just as good King of Fighters series from SNK.
   It's influence on the gaming community is astronomical, and as such deserves its rightful place as a legendary game. The control system is intuitive, but to get the most out of it on PC you should own a joypad as the keyboard does not give the game justice.

   

   This is a HD rerender of a Street Fighter 2 remake image

   The fighting system has arguably never been bettered, only improved with time by the Capcom development team. The graphics are understandably fairly basic by today's standards, especially when put side by side by Guilty Gear and the VS series, but for the time were amazing, with parallax scrolling and clipping that actually worked (a first for the beat 'em up genre).

   

   To deny yourself from playing this game because of a few poor reviews from people who obviously have not wasted much of their younger lives to the mastering of this game, would be a shame. If you use MAME or any other emulator then your very naughty, but see if you can download some of the other versions too, as different versions of the game introduced new characters and fighting styles. But for the time being download this PC version now, persevere, never use guile, and you'll fall in love. Brilliant.

   If you get the game from the first link click on the small hyperlink that says sf2.exe and NOT the large green “Download Now” button. The download link is below where it says File Downloads near the top right of the page. That takes you to a second page; below the large green ‘Download Me’ now button you’ll see a small message that says “click here if it doesn’t start in the next five seconds”. Click on the blue ‘Click here’ hypelink to get the download to start. You may need to click on the small download window for the ‘Save file’ link (it starts out greyed out). The game works on all versions of Windows, though I’ve not tested it out on my Vista rig yet, however according to Softonic it does work in Vista as well..

   The special edition of Street Fighter 2 (not the first game I link to) downloads an emulator that enables you to play a whole load of excellent games. Once you've got it unpacked click on the WinKawaks executable to open up the emulator. Click on file (along the top toolbar then file). That will open up a menu that shows you all of the games that you can play via this emulator. I will be posting later in the week as I'm reallybusy at the moment.

   I though I'd add a remake of Steet Fighter 3 to the pot as well instead of posting it seperately.

   You can find it on the same site as Street Fighter 2 HERE It's similar to Street Fighter 2 though the background gaphics are a little blurry. I'll post images later, my daughter wants me to watch the video she and my son bought me for my birthday (Monsters), then I want to chill out with some of my recently purchased games.

   Street Fighter 3 1.0, or The Fighters II, whichever title you prefer, is a tribute game created using flash animation by the licensed characters that most arcade gamers grew to know. While the characters belong to CAPCOM, the gameplay in itself is fairly unique, with three different modes for a single player round.
   There is the Martial Arts School, in which you can take tutorials of the game and fight to up your stats as a martial arts master; Bets Fighting, which gives you the option of betting your own money and experience points to gain them back exponentially; and, my favorite, Bounty Fighting, where you fight 12 clones and collect increasingly higher bounties along the way. Upon entering Single Player mode, your stat scorecard will be shown to keep track of all the money and experience points you’ve earned in any of the modes.

   While the blurry backgrounds leave much to be desired in the visual department, the characters are entertaining enough and obviously the focus of the game. I played mostly as Ken, the same fighter I usually choose in Street Fighter, and his moves were mostly the same as the original arcade game. But if you’re playing on a computer without a USB controller, the main hit buttons are “v, c and x” which can make doing combos a bit confusing. The jumps in this game are just as screwy as they used to be in Street Fighter, so don’t be surprised to find your character defying gravity during a match.
   If you’re feeling nostalgic for old, reliable arcade fighting games, then this is certainly worth the mere seconds it takes to download and set up. With clear tutorials and different modes to keep you entertained, Street Fighter 3 1.0 will bring back fond memories.
