   Steel Storm: Episode 1 (260.09Mb)

   The following game is the first in a short series of games called Steel Storm. The first one called Steel Storm Episode 1 is free but the later games Episode 2 and Steel Storm:Burning Retribution are commercial products. I’ve posted a link to their home site below. The game has been made to a high standard. The graphics remind me a little of borderlands, with a vague watercolor wash over the main graphic. This is a superb free shooter played from the perspective of a top down shooter.

   

   Steel Storm is an old school top down arcade shooter with score oriented competitive gameplay, and is designed for people who like fast paced action and have limited amounts of time to play computer games.

   The events of the game take place in an alternative universe where you control an advanced hovertank, packed with the most advanced and sophisticated weapons. Your task is simple, but, nevertheless, is not trivial. In the fight with presumed extraterrestrial invaders, you must prevail!

   

   

   

   Features include:
   • Deathmatch and coop game modes;
   • Exploration and time-trial game play types;
   • Score driven game play – master your skills to stay ahead;
   • Intelligent AI knows no mercy;
   • Hordes of enemies to destroy;
   • Vast numbers of destroyable structures and obstacles;
   • Huge territories to reclaim;
   • 6 missions of various difficulty, for beginners & hardcore gamers;
   • Edit or create your own missions with SandStorm in-game realtime multi-user editor (will be released as a patch for Episode I).

   You can download Steel Storm HERE or HERE. It’s quite a slow download. It took me about 40 minutes to download the 260Mb file. You’ll find three different mirrors from the first download link. I used what appeared to be the fastest mirror (West Coast USA - 2000Mbit/s). The second link is via Brothersoft.

   Ha Ha, I've had to buy a new 2TB drive just for my Steam games. I'll be posting three or four more excellent games over the next couple of days. As yet there are no games in the game giveaway lists so I though just in case we don't get a game giveaway this weekend I'd post some of the better games I have in my to post folder. (I'll post a thread to let everyone know if there is a game giveaway before Saturday)

   The following are all superb games. I still have CD discs of the first two games. The last in the list is a little blocky, graphics wise, but is still a really fun game. The ultimate in that type of game would be IMO Flatout: Ultimate Carnage or Crash Days, both of which I have. The second and third games are both excellent Submarine sims. I may post a third called Sub Culture, which has a more cartoon based graphic and is easier to play, but then I may post that one later. If you like Submarine sims there s a really good one available for several dollars from GOG called Aquanox (there's actually 2), or if you want to go for something a little more realistic theres Silent Hunter III, IV and now V. All three are superb games and well supported by the sub sim community; (by the way I still haven't forgotten that I have a DVD copy of Silent Hunter III to give to a community member. I will post it onto the member in question soon. The last several months have been rather bad, so such things have been prioritized way back on my list. :(

   Anyway, here are my next postings. I'm almost ready to post them. I just need to get some images for one of them, then I'll post them en-mass, lol.
