I have followed the instructions repeatedly ( Installed, Uninstalled, Re-installed ) and yet, still cannot seem to wind up with an Activated or Registered version of Inpaint 5.6.
Nowhere have I been able to find a License Key, so the program just sits there unregistered. Thanks for any help... chauffeur

Did you run activate.exe after you installed. It should have shown up when you unzipped Inpaint56.zip. The process is unzip Inpaint.zip, install, run activate.exe, then you can get rid of the original zip files and what you extracted from it.

I first ran Setup.exe to install the program, I then ran Activate.exe to activate the program, and then I extracted Activate.gcd to the same folder that the program is installed in to complete the process and yet when I launch the program, it comes up as being unregistered, with no license key present.

If your key isn't in the reg area:
CURRENT_USER\Software\Teorex\Inpaint\Registration
it isn't regged.Posted 10 years ago # -
If your key isn't in the reg area:
CURRENT_USER\Software\Teorex\Inpaint\Registration
it isn't regged. That's right. I don't think that there is anything in the program interface that shows it is registered so it may be and you just don't know it. In fact, I seem to recall it worked the other way around. Before activation I believe there was a drop down for Registration under "Help" that went away after you were registered. Anyway, if you aren't sure search your registry (as always in the registry be careful) to see if you registration is there as suggested by New_Buzz.
BTW, what's that about extracting Activate.gcd? Not necessary and don't see how you would even do it.

You will often find the following statement present in the 'readme.txt' file accompanying most of the offerings from GAOTD :
!!! .GCD file included is necessary for correct installation and activation. Please make sure to extract all enclosed files to the same folder. After successful activation and installation you may safely delete GOTD installation files from your PC (including .GCD)!!!Posted 10 years ago # -
@chauffeur, I see how this could be confusing.
What they mean is that when you extract the original zip file that you want all of it's contents in the same folder. This doesn't need to be where you are going to actually install the program. Typically you get at least a readme.txt, a setup.exe and a setup.gcd. In this case there was also an activate.exe and an activate.gcd. You should have extracted them all from the original zip into some folder (any folder as long as they were all together). Then you run activate.exe to activate it. It appears from your note above that you did all of this. Afterwards you could delete the original zip and all of the files you originally extracted from it; including activate.gcd. You say you "extracted Activate.gcd to the same folder that the program is installed in to complete the process." This wasn't necessary and I don't understand how you would extract Activate.gcd since it isn't a zip file (or other type of archive file). Perhaps you mean you moved it to that folder. Anyway, that step wasn't necessary. The .gcd files are just garbage after the process is completed.
I am guessing that you got the program installed and registered since you said you installed and then ran activate.exe so hopefully all is OK. Did you check to see if it is registered?

"I first ran Setup.exe to install the program, I then ran Activate.exe to activate the program . . ."
On the last screen of the setup process, there's usually a checked box next to "launch the program" after clicking on 'Finish.' I always uncheck that box prior to clicking on 'Finish.' Then, if there is an 'Activate, exe,' I run that. It's only after that I finally run/launch the program.
Hope that helps for future GotDs.

I got a message can't activate now.. try later... I tried off and on during the day, still not activated.
I'll just remove it from my hard drive.
