The following description was posted by me over a year ago. I’m still playing the game and love it, though truth be told I still think Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is better. (Elder Scrolls V is out later this year). But if you like RPG’s Dragonage Origins is still a great game to play, with stunning views and a great story. I would advise downloading one of the texture mods though as the developers Bioware skimped on some of the textures, using low res textures that spoil the game a little. (The mods fix that minor negative though). The reason they did it was so that it could be a multi platform game. All PC gamers know that most games these days are dumbed down for the ageing console graphics chips. (consider that the average graphics card alone for a reasonable gaming PC costs a lot more than an Xbox 360 and a Play Station 3). As for Dragonage II. The reviews say that it starts off slow, which I have to agree. I found the early part of the game rather tedious, but playing on was worth the wait as it definitely flowers into a game as good as the original. I’m thinking maybe it’s because of the poor start that sales have been poor, hence the rather quick reduction in prce, considering the game has only been released for little over a month.
If you don’t own any of the Dragonage titles I’d certainly advise buying the ultimate edition first. I reckon the second instalment will reduce further for the summer sale, so f you are on a shoestring just get the ultimate edition. It’s certainly worth spending the extra few pounds/dollars to buy the ultimate, thatn purchasing the games singly as theres a significant saving.
There’s already a plethora of mods for this game that’ll extend the game play for many months if not years. The deal ends on Friday, so go get your money and buy this fabulous game.
