Anybody finish "The Otherside: Realm of Eons"?

I'm grasping at straws here. This game was offered at JenKat games a few months ago but I just found it a week or so ago. It's Hidden Object Game and I know some of you like them and some don't - just like any kind of game.

I was getting near the end of the game and I'm completely stuck. I have emailed JenKat on it twice and a friend with the identical problem has emailed them - neither of us have received a response.

There is a point in the game called "The Order Throne Room". At one point, you gather all of "Nord's" belongings after you have created a force-field in the middle of the throne. You're supposed to click on the icon at the bottom of the window to pick up "Nord's belongings" and then move the mouse to the sparkling force-field and click again to release what you've picked up. It won't release! You cannot get the belongings to go to the force-field.

I've found several "walkthrough" descriptions that say I'm doing it right but it won't work. I found the forum for the game on BigFishGames and discovered I'm not the only one with the problem.

Has anybody played this game and gotten past that point in the game? If so ----- HOW?????????

I got it free from JenKat and they won't answer my emails! That's the only place I've seen it free without ads.

I'm trying a re-start as a new user and hoping that will work.

Dragonlair, I had the same problem with 'The Otherside: Realms of Eons' (free from JenKat).
Good news: it can be done.
Bad news: it takes searching for the exact spot to click.
Move your cursor (without Nord's belongings) at the top of the orb until you see "Secret trap". That is the area where Nord's belongings will be accepted.
I started directly above the orb/secret trap and move Nord's belongings a tiny bit down and clicked....repeated many times until I found the exact spot.
I think the circle of belongings were about half in and half above the orb when I clicked and they finally landed inside the orb/secret trap...and I could go on with the game.

You were right! It worked. You see that "message" with or without holding "Nord's Belongings". The bug is that it is just one point, not an area that is a "sweet spot". I found it about equal to the top of the sphere a bit to the right. I guess that would be about even with the right side of the sphere, too. I got it in and completed the game.

This game doesn't have a lot of extra "playability" since you always search for the same thing at each level in the game. I just wanted to know how the story ended! WILD!!!!!

I'm glad it worked and you got to finish the game :)
I like the game and will probably play it again in a few months...I'll need to remember how to find Nord's belongings' "sweet dot".
My minor gripe with the ending...I think Louise should have been smiling in the photo. It would have been a better ending for me if she had a big "I'm happy to be home -- thanks to you" smile.

Thank you, Dragonlair, for pointing me in the direction of Jenkat Games: I downloaded The Otherside: Realm of Eons and found it quite addictive, but I'm sure I could never have finished it without kvtto's help!!

One thing, Jenkat Games seems to be a very good site with good credentials from Siteadvisor etc, but how does one find these reputable sites with free games? I've been using Gamehouse which is very good, but I had problems with Iwin and have found lots of sites mentioned on the web that I wouldn't touch having checked them out (malware etc). It would be awfully useful to have a list of good sites (lots of apologies if one already exists and I just haven't found it yet!).

Littlemaggit, the sites with free full version games that I know of are: JenKatgames, Myplaycity, Freegamepick, Gametop, Mostfun, Gamehouse, Sandlotgames (1 a week).
All of these sites have an excellent rating on WOT.
Mostfun and Gamehouse have ads but the others don't. Myplaycity opens your browser to their site when you exit/quit one of their games.
Right now, it is day 5 of 10 days of free games on Amazon (USA). -- a different game each day.

I'm glad my instructions were helpful to you :)

I finally heard back from JenKat on the game. They are trying to get the patched version from NAMCO. They said they would let me know when they had it.

Kvtto,

MyPlayCity, FreeGamePick, AND GameTop all open the browser when you exit the game. In addition, MyPlayCity REQUIRES you to download their tool bar (Ask Toolbar). You don't have to have it active and you can remove it after you install a game but it is a requirement to download their games.

JenKat does not but you have to "decline" 5 or 6 different items for each game you download.

All but JenKat download the full game so you can keep the install file for re-installs if needed. Jenkat only download a "stub" and downloads the full game and installs it when you run the stub. In addition, JenKat has NO options as to where the game is places. It places the game in Program Files and a portion (with the "real" executable) in Program Files\Common Files. You can correct this situation by moving and then you can even "fix" the uninstall using Revo Uninstaller (opening the uninstall Registry Key - and editing the uninstall string).

I forgot (or didn't know) that FreeGamePick and Gametop also open your browser when you quit/exit their games.
A friend downloaded the first few games from MyPlayCity (for me) and must have disabled the Ask Toolbar....now I always un-check or decline the additional options when I download a free game.

I'm not all that knowledgeable about computers and opening the registry is beyond my current level of expertise. Actually I'm afraid to try.

What's a patch ?
I think it means a "fix" for a problem/bug in a game/program, but I'm not sure.

Yes, a "Patch", is a fix and re-release of software. It usually has a higher number somewhere along the version number of a product. For example, if your program was version 1.03, a minor patch might make it 1.04 but a medium impact fix might make it 1.10 and a really major change would change the version number to 2.00. However, how "major" or "minor" a patch is considered is extremely subjective! Just know that a change in the number means something has been added and/or fixed. If it's been fixed, it's been patched.

Thank you Dragonlair :) I've wonder about version numbers but didn't realize that they mean patches.

Have you played JenKat's newest free hidden object adventure game Eternal Night: Realm of Souls ?
It's also by Namco but it's not a continuation of The Otherside: Realm of Eons. I found it more difficult than The Otherside ... but not so difficult that I needed a walkthrough. BigFish does have a walkthrough for it (I like knowing if a game has a walkthrough just in case I need it).
I enjoyed it. And it is "bug free".

Thanks! I got the game and installed it - it's HUGE (almost 500 MB) but barely got started on it. I've got a friend that tried it and it just gives her a black screen or tells her a file isn't there (and you can see it in the same folder as the rest of the files). I didn't think it was a continuation of Otherside. I've seen others by Namco at JenKat. I did notice that it won't let me play windowed mode but Otherside wouldn't either.

Big Fish's forum on the game has an 11 page thread on "technical difficulties". And that's just since January! Obviously, my friend is NOT alone!

Wow,,, I consider myself lucky that I didn't have any "technical difficulties". Mine played without any problems. The loading between scenes is slow but I read a review on Gamezebo, so I was prepared for that.
When I first saw the similarity in the title/name (Realm of...), I wrongly thought it might be connected to The Otherside.
I hope your friend can uninstall and re-install a playable version (that's all I know to do)....because it's worth playing.
