I've been watching this closely ever since I found out that the Internet Archive has been collecting games from the 70s and 80s to make available for free to play in your browser for free and legally. It has just gone live.

There literally are 100s of games for the 5 systems covered so far (Atari 2600 and 7800, ColecoVision, Odyssey, and Astrocade). There are probably more for the 2600 than all of the others combined. The Astrocade has the least at this point and there are 20 for it. These run using JSMESS (Javascript Multi Emulation Super System). They use keyboard commands (the first one I tried used arrow keys to maneuver, the space bar to select, ctrl and alt to fire). Currently there isn't any sound, but they say that will be added soon.

Thanks, missed this post earlier. A lopt of those games are also downloadable from various sites, either using free standing emulators, or built in emulators for each game. I posted quite a few in the early days of the free games project.
