Hello firefly, :)
I can only suggest that you vote with your pocket, so if you are planning on buying a audiconverter. Do not buy it from Abyss....this company's deception speaks volumes about their integrity or lack of it and they do not deserve the sale. There are plenty of alternatives out there that are just as good if not better than theirs.
I am trialing a few converters rippers before making a decission on which one to buy.
First one is: "Audio Convert" http://www.snapfiles.com/Freeware/gmm/fwaudiocodec.html which i have found very good so far.
The 2nd one is "dBpoweramp Music Converter (dMC)" http://www.dbpoweramp.com/dmc.htm which has been very very good so far.
Or alternatively you can try "Free Audio Converter" at http://softdepo.com/audio_converter.htm this one i have yet to trial but i think it is a full free version but i am unsure because i have yet to trial it.
Do not hold your breath and wait for a fix from Abyss, i feel they have absolutely no intention on addressing the issue. This software was crippled back to trialware after approximately 2 months and i feel that it was done intentionally....so i can not in good faith tell you to spend your hard earned $$$ on it because of this companys actions.
The guy's of GAOTD are doing their best but in the end they too are at the mercy of any company that will take adavantage of the free advertising offered by this site. Sorry i am unable to be of any help but that is the way things work out sometimes.
Good luck on your choice if you decide to buy something. :)

Hi Nastajia! Well Abyss had the same problem with I-Sound and they fixed that one. So there is still hope. :)

Hiya BillW50, :)
Well by looking at the link you posted to that thread it seems as though the guy's at abbyssmedia jumped in and "fixed the problem inside of a couple of weeks" at best.
This has been going on for months now and the end of the financial year is now upon us.
I still have my copy of Audio Converter plus installed, but i have purchased dbpoweramp for the time being. If Abyss come up with a "solution" and fix it then kudo's to them. But i am not going to lose sleep over it if they do not fix it.
I have put several music lovers "friends" on to dbpoweramp and they love it with two of them buying it as i did. There was one enquiry for Audio Converter plus, but i put them on the correct path to several other alternatives.
Honestly!
Released feb i think and almost 6 months later nothing but defening silence. "so there is your answer, i feel that nothing will be done about it". "Bill do not bother waiting, you will only waste your time"
I will continue to recommomend alternatives to ACP for the people that ask me what i now use.
I apologize but those sorts of practices by some company's get right under my skin, so there is no way i will ever recommend ACP sorry....i just can not do it. Mt first audio converter cost me $$$ and i in good faith replaced it with the so called fully functional version of Audio Converter Plus.
So in the end my purse has been hit twice now "not that abbysswould lose sleep over it". SORRY but recommendending ACP is just not going to happen. Much to the delight of other developers who have sold 3 copies of their converters on my recommendation.
Vote with your pocket and only then will Abyss feel they may be doing wrong by falsely advertising "so called fully functianal software" that cripples its self.

Hello everyone,
I know how awful this can be, since it's happened with more than 2 or 3 programs I've downloaded via GotD.
The most recent one, was Desktop Icon Toy that already quit on me several weeks ago. I know I registered it, because the first thing I do (every single time,) before even trying the software out - is check to see that the registration information is all in place.
While I didn't install this particular converter, I do have Alcyone's Audio Converter, which thankfully, is still showing as registered to 'giveawayoftheday.' in [Help - About]. (Fingers crossed!)
I reported the icon toy to the forums ages ago, and while Bubby ;) has tried to help me, apparently nothing can be done for it.
Sadly, I don't think that GotD actually has any input with developers these days. It's like they just accept what they can get. Developers include malware and software is increasingly becoming time limited, regardless of the original GotD initiative.
The burning question of the day is: Does GotD know when software comes with such limitations?

I believe the first they know about it is when we tell them.
In fact I'd suggest that even the developers don't make "the connection" until something goes wrong. I say most of them include features like this in their normal product - and then they don't give it much more thought, until GOTD comes along saying that the program is trying to "update" and the developers roll their eyes and say, "oh yeah... that's right. I completely forgot about that". The good developers - give us a new version that doesn't try to auto update any more.
Being an absent minded developer, myself - that's probably what I would do, anyway.
The only exception to this - because they still couldn't get it right the second time... is iobit with "Advanced Windows Care". (Just my personal opinion there BTW)

You guys can count me in as another one that just found out today, granted i had only used it once when i first dowloaded it. have a fresh batch of songs to convert and low and behold i fire up audioconverter only to tell me i gotta buy the sucker now. Don't know about the rest of you but i am strapped for cash these days. i cant afford it or anything else. so going by everyone else the converter has been crippled for months now. Thank you mr abbyss, you just made my day and by reading through all the replys i would agree that they dont give a damn.
free fully functional software is how i read it, well what a load of codswallop that is. reading some of the other comments gives me the impression that they aint gonna do jack about it. im not rich by anymeans and cannot afford to pay for the little luxeries in life. so when this was offered i snapped it up. now i cant do jack with my music.
yep nice one mr abbyss.
0 out of 10 rating and not recommending it to anyone.
full functional free software is what i remember it said LMAO
seems more and more of the programs are headed this way i see.Nice one, not having a shot at the guys here at giveaway but you are being used large by some of the unsrupulous companys wantin to pawn their software and it is working and upsettin quite a few people i see.
thumbs down
visitors of this site better start getting used to it me thinks.

It did it to me; I've already uninstalled it.
Foobar and dMC work fine for me, so I'm not terribly worried.Posted 17 years ago # -
Good News! I emailed Abyssmedia about Audio Converter Plus reverting back to trialware and they responded back within a couple hours!
"Please don't worry - your registration not removed. This is a bug in activation module.
You can download update from http://www.abyssmedia.com/downloads/acp305.exe"I downloaded, installed it and it worked perfectly!

Well, the patch no longer works -- or at least it does not work for me.
I had the same problem as everyone else here but I hadn't attempted to use the program in awhile. I was glad to see the patch, but after I applied it -- nothing happened. I still get a pop up saying my program is out of date and then it asks for a registration Number. Although GIVEAWAYOFTHEDAY is written in the username box the reg number box is empty. I have attempted to paste my old reg number (taken from regedit) but to no avail.
I think they changed the patch offered in the link. The file patch offered in the link is called "acp305", however when Audio Converter Pro launches in its stunted TRIAL mode (it converts half of any song) it says I'm running ACP 3.06.
Abyssmedia is obviously trying to hurry the process of converting GOATD users into paying customers by crippling their offerings early. Short term thinking on their part, IMHO.
I don't use the program enough to buy it and this shoddy treatment by Abyssmedia only turns me off the company altogether. I was considering buying a copy of "i-Sound Pro", as I missed the GOATD offering, but not now ...or ever.
