Good luck W.R. I just got out of the hospital a few weeks ago myself, I had half of my left lung removed because of a tumor that was cancer. A very painful surgery and a long recovery. Thanks to you and everyone else here that post games and comments, it has made the road to recovery easier to take. You are all my second family we have been together for years and care about each other. Thanks.

Hi Printer, go to the old Codgers or just mediacally downgraded thread HERE and post your feelings. It's a great place for leaving comments to get such things off your chest or just for some support.

I've just had scans and a biopsy (which was very painful - the doctor twizzled the syringe around in a circular motion which was excruciatingly painful and nearly made me sick). Just got to wait on the results now. I do hope all goes well and no reoccurrances occur

It's a brilliant bargain. £2.50 per game. you can go wrong for such quality games. three of them are the latest in their respective series.

I bought it! It's funny, though, because I wouldn't have bought all four had they been £2.50 each. 2, maybe 3. Had any one of them been rated any lower on metacritic I probably would have passed but they're not worse than 70s and the low ones were faulty in a way I'm ok with. The real bore here was Rainbow Six, because I hate squad based games, but we'll see how it goes.

All that aside - it's just too hard to pass up a bargain, isn't it?

Hi BentlyTCow, (not seen you around much on Steam for a while) firstly, thanks for the comment above. The latest Rainbox Six game is totally dumbed down compared to the original Rainbow Six games apart from the graphics. It plays almost like you're playing a straight FPS game. The graphics are excellent and I found the game play challenging enough to enjoy the game immensley. Personally I don't take any notice of the Metacritic scores, never have and have found some games with scores as low as 40 to be extremely good games. I do prefer the Advanced Warfightewr games better than the Rainbow Six games, but they aren't on offer at the moment.

That's exactly why I decided I wouldn't mind it :) I'm not usually a run and gun type, but it's a good distraction when you just want to blow things up. Just Cause 2 is good for that :)

I tend to take the Metacritic scores with a grain of salt; I find a reviewer I usually agree with and read what they say. Some great games I wouldn't bother playing at all. Some garbage ones I've enjoyed.

The FEAR games, for instance, while not garbage per se, I've found to be much more fun than their reviews indicate. Arkham Asylum on the other hand, while entertaining, is not a 91 to me. The controls (both keyboard and gamepad) are sloppy and the camera is far too slow. It feels like a button-masher. The maps don't make any sense, either. Maybe I'm just expecting too much from a 'Game of the Year'.

I have the feeling Assassin's Creed is going to be a lot like Arkham Asylum. Call of Juarez sounds like old west run and gun, so why not? Far Cry 2 apparently has nothing to do with the original Far Cry, which is a shame because it was quite fun. So, more run and gun.. I may be somewhat tired of run and gun by the time this is over - lets hope Deus Ex has been discounted a bit by the time I'm finished with these! :)

If not I expect it'll be time to play through the Thief series again. Then probably Half Life 2..

post script: I have been on Steam just not in L4D.. I hate to just join in uninvited.

Bently (D) we've always considered you part of the group (clique), so there’s no need to wait for an invitation. I didn't realize you felt that way otherwise I'd have sent you many invitations. Please don't feel you have to stand on ceremony if you see us playing. You are always welcome just to jump in with us (assuming there's a space and that you’ve got the map, lol), and even if there wasn't (or if you didn’t have the map) we'd consider changing the mode (or map) to versus so that more than four could play. There are still loads of maps to play from the custom made community. To be honest, there have been so many released for both L4D and L4D2 that apart from a few favourites such as ‘I Hate Mountains’ and ’City 17’, most have only been played once or twice at the most and some have yet to be explored and hardly any have been completed. Most are a lot harder than the default vanilla maps

I never got into Arkham Asylum, it just never felt right when I played it (maybe I didn't give it enough time, whereas Assassins creed was always one of those games that I always got a rush of adrenaline when i jumped in. I've actually hardly played my Steam copy, having already played it for many hours via the disc version which I'd purchased as a pre-order months before it was released. Conversely Assassins Creed 2 I've only spent a few moments on so far despite having bought that when it was released. I was really looking forwards to playing the second one but have never got past the first few moments of the game because it starts with a sort of practice run where you have to chase a villain across the rooftops of the city. The key combinations required to accomplish that feat have always eluded me so consequently that particular game remains un-played despite having bought it as a pre-release. I* love the opening sequences in Call of Juarez, where you start in the civil War as an officer. I think you'll love it. :) It's different from the usual shooter fare as is Far Cry 32. Just wait till you start Far Cry 2. you are taken by Jeep to your first destination. Make sure you use your mouse to look around while you're in the jeep. The scenery is breath taking. It's been quite some time since I played it now as I got beguiled by other just as good games, but feel I should revisit soon a sI never really completed many of the missions. I did the same as with Assassins Creed and started with a hard copy and then repurchased it via Steam. To my knowledge I've still to crack open the Steam version, which included the expansion which I’ve never played. Can't wait to find some time.

Thanks Delenn, as always much appreciated for your concern. Thinks are okay. Awaiting the results of my tests from Fridays visit to the hospital. The needle the doctor pushed into my chest has left a rather sharp pain as he swirled it around while extracting tissue fluid, which almost made me sick from the pain it caused - I wont go into detail though, :) lol.

I have it on good authority that the Rabbit actually went to the hospital for a breast enlargement procedure and ran away screaming after the needle for the anesthesia was inserted. He was reportedly seen shortly after in a nearby carrot patch endlessly repeating "Why did I think that was a good idea?" :) Gotta love the Rabbit!! lol
