Giveaway of the Day Forums

   Hi,2 days ago, when I logged onto either the Forums or the Daily giveaway page, I was surprised to see that the screen only shows about a dozen lines and absolutely no pictures. For instance the 4 letter word 'show' is 1 inch long, and more than 1/4" high.

   I use the latest version of Firefox 3.6.13 (although Firefox is downloading 3.6.14 as I'm writing this and it is only the 2 GOTD sites that this is happening on. The game giveaway site and the blog page are perfectly normal.

   Can anyone tell me how to change this back again? It is really tiresome to have to keep scrolling across the screen to read every line. I have tried deleting and reloading but nothing changes. It is only on this one laptop (my main one, running XP Professional SP2), that has this problem, my daughter's baby laptop reads normally.

   Try Ctrl - to reduce the size of the font (ctrl + will increase the font size). It is usually recognized on a site-by-site-basis so changing it for one site won't affect others.

   It's possible that you (or a pet) did a ctrl+ without realizing. You would be amazed at what my cat's head, tail and rump can do to a site's appearance. :))) He occasionally makes changes with his paws but that is pretty rare - he's rather sit on the keyboard.

   Thank you so much you two, that did the trick. Never knew about that! One of my cats really loves to sit on the keyboard so it must have been him, although it would have had to have been on 2 separate occasions to get both sites.

   I was so-o-o-o sick of scrolling along to read everything, and I'm delighted to have learnt something new. Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks? Thank you again.

   In the interests of completeness - if your mouse has a mousewheel - Ctrl and mousewheel (up or down) will increase/decrease the size of browser webpage text - which is more convenient than Ctrl +/- (if your hand is already on the mouse).

   If you cannot remember what "normal size text" should look like - Ctrl-0 (Zero on the numeric keypad) will return the font size to "Normal" (which means @ 100%).

   Yes, I second those thanks Bubby, I didn't know about the mouse either. Not that our Tommy played with the mouse at all, he is definitely a keyboard sitter! I actually use the mousewheel and the Alt key to change volume with Volumouse, a program I like very much. So I should be able to remember the Ctrl key and the mousewheel hopefully.

   Nola - just remember to compensate for the fact that you are upside down. So, scroll up will actually be scroll down, etc. :)
