Sometime back GOTD gave away conceptdraw mindmap and I was hoping that it would give away other conceptdraw products but so far it does not look promising. I am garnering support for conceptdraw products especially conceptdraw project and conceptdraw VI. Folks out there show your support and perhaps these will be offered soon.

It doesn't matter how many people ask for it here - the decision to giveaway mindmap or any of their other products is with conceptdraw. (You are not going to wear down GOTD by begging) :P
Suggesting the idea to Conceptdraw however...
Another way of looking at it - they offered one of their less expensive products and advertised the rest of their product range. Now you are saying how much you would like their premium products. Perhaps the intent of offering MindMap was to stimulate sales in ConceptDraw VI and Project, and overall create an awareness of their site and other products.
Have you used the trials of ConceptDraw VI and Project from their site? Perhaps Conceptdraw are hoping for more people showing their support and interest by using and registering their other products.
I agree that some people may find drawing software useful - but it's not realistic to expect companies who giveaway one program to follow with everything else. (If Toyota gave everyone car seat covers today - do they need to give away free cars next week - to promote sales of.... cars?)
But if I was you, and I was desperate for drawing related software (like I had a home project or something being held up) and didn't want to spend any money - I'd be looking for free or cheaper alternatives rather than holding my breath hoping I might get a specific piece of software any time soon as a giveaway (you just can't predict these things). ConceptDraw VI might be on the cards for a giveaway - but they might be waiting until after November 2007 (for example).
But hey... I could be wrong. Don't forget to check the next giveaway - I heard a "rumour". ;o)

Bubby I realize that any giveaway depends primarily upon the software publisher/owner and possibly GOTD and I respect your comments. But, I must say that I was not begging. Please read my post again. The tone of my post does not in any way suggest that I was begging for the software (Last time I checked my post I did not find the word "Please" or any kind of pleading). I was merely suggesting a good software as a giveaway. Plus I posted my comment appropriately in the "suggestions" category in an effort to invite more people to debate on my post. Anyway thanks for your comments.

It was a welcome debate and I look forward to more such positive debates.

Sorry if you felt I was being critical - I was not. (I'd love ConceptDraw VI also).
I'm merely pointing out to nobody in particular (the anonymous reader) that a company giving away their entire product line will be more the exception than the rule. Also I was hoping to illustrate that hoping for software to "appear" before a deadline is risky, and almost certain to disappoint.

Hmm...I posted this in the comments section and realized that I should have done that here. So, here it is
:)
I have gotten installer errors. This has never happened to me before. The report has been sent to the installer software. The report follows:
Error Code: -5009 : 0×8002802b
Error Information:
>Ctor\ObjectWrapper.cpp (163)
>Ctor\ObjectWrapper.cpp (402)
>Kernel\Component.cpp (1163)
>Kernel\CABFile.cpp (389)
>SetupDLL\SetupDLL.cpp (1541)

@Windows XP Service Pack 2 (2600) IE 7.0.6000.16441I have d/loaded the file from the main site and the mirror site. I also d/loaded the trial as a last resort and got the same error from it. I suspect the error is from a problem on my comp. :(
I did reboot between install attempts to see if that would help. My computer is more than capable of this software :)
Does anyone have any ideas at all?

I'm getting the exact same error as ByteMaster.

@ByteMaster and Kail,
I may have a solution for you...
If you go to the folder:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\Professional\Runtime
You should see a file called ISProBE.tlb. If you rename this file and then immediately attempt to run the Conceptdraw setup.exe it will create a new ISProBE.tlb which will now be updated to a size of 116 KB. The install should work correctly at this point.
Good Luck.

Thanks BuBBy, that did the trick.
Posted 17 years ago # -
Glad it worked.
@georgeayres - How much free disk space do you have on your C: drive? The ConceptDraw folder is about 160MB plus there are probably extras in other folders...

Hmm… first problem ever. The install went fine, but when I try to start the program I get the following error:
“OLE initialization failed. Make sure thats the OLE libraries are the correct version.”
Any ideas? :\ Ive tried uninstall and reinstalling several times but to no avail. I get the same error every time. I'd really hate to miss out on this deal.

tidusandrikku, just make sure you have run Activate.exe before the giveaway expires - the rest someone might come up with a fix later - but you only have 90 minutes left until Activate.exe won't run anymore.
The error message you are getting is suitably vague that this might be tricky to fix... What version of windows are you running?
Posted 17 years ago # -
I've run Activate.exe and I wont uninstall again after the giveaway expires - thanks for the tip ;)
Im running Windows XP Pro, fully updated. Im glad to hear that I can possibly get the fix later on. Thats a relief, I really would love to try this program.

For anyone in the UK, the latest (June 2007) edition of PCPlus magazine has a copy of ConceptDraw Project 2. It's more expensive than GOTD offerings, but still relatively cheap.

Just curious if anyone had any input on my problem. I also opened up a ticket with them to see if maybe the issue is with my system configuration and their software and not just the fact I got it for free. Any help is still very much appreciated ;)
