Okay, the last day of Christmas is past, so I've removed the Christmas bonanza from the title, but I've still got a pile of games that I'd meant to post over the Christmas period.; some abandonware titles and some open source games. I will endevour to post all of them over the next week or so. :) Anyway, here's another remake of a NES game called Solomon's Key:
Solomon’s Key (1.14Mb)
Solomon's Key sees our heroic wizard Dana on a quest through many dangerous traps and monster ridden rooms to hopefully find the legendary Key of Solomon. Armed with a magic wand that can summon and destroy blocks on command Dana must use these blocks for both navigation and protection from the many monsters he will face.
There's very little he can do to fight them. He can trap or trick some monsters with blocks and on occasion shoot fireballs acquired in jars. The focus here isn't on combat but making it through each room alive. Grab the key in each stage and make it to the door by any means possible. If you can rescue some fairies or grab some items or treasure along the way then, by all means, do so! You'll need them. Summoning and destroying blocks strategically is made much more difficult by the plentiful and varied monsters. Monsters behave differently, have the ability to kill you instantly and often they can even destroy your precious blocks. No one said this would be easy. In fact, it will seem near impossible, just like the original NES version.
There are 47 levels for you to complete most of which are pretty challenging. The main downside to the game is that you have to save the passwords for the levels you want to restart. You can see the password for the level you are playing by pressing F4.
Controls:

Z : create crate or destroy create
X : Fire weapon
