It seems that Microsoft are having a daily game sale at the moment.
Today's game is Shadowrun for £0.75
I assume this is available worldwide, but obviously don't know the prices as it defaults to the UK for me.

Thanks for the heads up Wmplynig, nearly bought this from Tescoes a few months ago for around £8. So £0.75p is much better. It is multiplayer only; however, there are several training chapters that have bots which acts as a singleplayer campaign.
This is $0.99 in the US. Earlier this week (yesterday?) they had Deus Ex GOTY at that price. Last month I got AOE III Complete for $0.10. Worth watching for future bargains at least during the holidays.
For Shadowrun - I wish they would include some figures with the following statement:
This software uses digital rights management software (“DRM”). DRM may limit the number of times you are permitted to install this software on a computer and/or the number of computers to which you may install the software. To function properly, DRM downloads certain data and files to your computer, which may or may not be uninstalled when you uninstall the software.
For me, this may or may not be a good deal...
I agree with you, BuBBy. The latter part bothers me more than the first. I like to know what's on my computer (at least what my techie self knows about, anyway), and that I can uninstall what I want to, when I want to.
Besides the crummy DRM, the game is rubbish anyway. Shadowrun was supposed to be the first in a new wave of gaming...cross-platform multi-player. Complete and utter fail. I believe it's been discussed elsewhere in this forum. Even at 99 cents I wholeheartedly pass. However, the Deus Ex game for 99 cents was a bargain the day before. For those interested, they post a new game at 9am pst.

Thanks for that info, Wizzard. It's too early for the change-over, for me. I'll check back, later, after I've had my sleep...:)
Todays game is Viva Pinata for £0.75
Thanks Wmplynig, My daughter is over the moon. She said she's been wanting Viva Pinata for ages. One of her best friends has got it and she wanted to ask me, but couldn't remember the name of the game. So her wish has come true. For 0.75p you can't go wrong. :) Definitely a game for the kids and family. Quite a large download at 7.5Gb, but it looks very graphic intensive.
Unfortunately there are a lot of good games that use DRM. I was shocked when one of my kids said they couldn't get their copy of Spore to work last year. i'd jusy purchased the cute & cuddly and space adveture packs for them, but becasue i'd reinstalled the game x number of times (I didn't realize at the time there were limited numbers of installations) due to re-formatting my drives I then got a message saying I would have to repurchase an activation code. I contacted EA games (several times) and they have never resolved the situation (I ended up repurchasing the game twice via Steam for both my kids(thankfully during the summer sale so got it cheap)) I only discovered recently that most games with DRM do come with deactivation features so that you can uninstall the game, but it has to be done correctly otherwise you have to go beg for more activations. I've done it with Serious Sam 2 which I bought many years ago via Direct 2 Drive when it was forup)
As for Shadowrun, I played some of the turorial last night and didn't think it was that bad a game. It had some reasonable features. I certainly cannot complain at the cost of it. I wouldn't have purchased it at the price I quoted above tohugh because of it being a multiplayer only game (even if it does have a small element of singleplayer). Did you purchase it previously Wizz? You definitely seem very set against the game. What put you off? I've only played the first few tutorial stages so can't really make a full assessment of the game yet, but it just seems like it's an average shooter with the ability to glide around when jumping off buildings etc.
Here's the link to the post you mentioned wizz :)
Today's deal is Blacklight Tango Down for £0.75
Thanks Wmplynig; already got this one via Steam some time ago. It's an okay shooter, not the best, nor the worst. For 75p you can't go wrong.
I was going to get it, but after reading the reviews on the single player game I decided to skip it. I rarely venture online to play multiplayer and on the few occasions that I do, I play Left 4 Dead 2.... roll on tomorrow.
Todays' game is Stalker Shadow of Chernobyl £0.75
Another excellent game.
I'm still waiting for a decent game that I don't already own !!! ha ha !!
Same here. :) Though I didn't have Shadowrun. Not a game I'd have paid full price for, but after playing it a couple of times now and happy with it (for 75p) :)
Still hoping for a dirt cheap copy of Bioshock 2 :) In the mean time, I'm totally immersed in Just Cause 2 and I've only done the first mission :) Stephen, don't try riding a jet to see where it goes - it's a long swim back! :)
If you get dumped at sea you can easily latch onto a passing boat using your grappling hook. The first hit takes you onto the boat the secod one wil remove the owner an then the boat is yours. no consequences accrue for such actions. I'm sure whenever you are at sea the games engine autmatically sends boats of various descriptons to pass nearby. :)
Great game.
Yeah there's boats around.. but even by boat 10 minutes out is 10 minutes back! I reloaded the game in the end as it was taking so long.
Todays game is Max Payne 2 : The Fall of Max Payne (another game I already have.... :( ) £0.75 p / $0.99c
yep, me too. :)
Daily sale has ended :(
Impulse are also having a daily sale - if you can get their clunky system to actually load a page....
Awww! It was harly a worth sale was it. I tohugh they would have kept it going till the end of christmas. nNt a sausage apart from the first two. My daughter is really pleased to have got Viva Pinata.
I think it's time to check direct 2 Drive; i've neglected checking them for a while now. Last year they had their sale before Steam; leading up to christmas, then Steam followed through with the 12 days of Christmas sale. I'd better start saving a little in preparation for the sale. then again I think I've got most of what Steam has to offer. :)
Direct 2 Drive are having a strange 1 in 5 people get the game they buy for free deal before Christmas. Some reduced stuff, but not great.
However....
GamersGate have a really good weekly sale EVERY week. I picked up Bioshock 1 today for £3.74 - it's good to be able to play it again, since I damaged my original disk.
Weekly sales page (works every week)>> http://www.gamersgate.co.uk/offers
They update every Monday morning (UK)
If you haven't used them before, you can pay with Paypal as well as Credit/Debit card and they have a "blue coins" system where 5% of every game you buy is added to your account in blue coins. When you have enough blue coins, you can use them to buy another game.
Downloads are quite quick and unlike Impulse, they are definitely on a par with Steam and Direct2Drive.
Thanks, Wmplynig, for the gamergate link.
I hope you don't mind that I changed the topic.
graylox
Not at all graylox, makes it easier for people to see what's going on.
Looks like GamersGate have a game sale Advent Calendar....
http://www.gamersgate.co.uk/adventcalendar
Check it daily !
I quite fancy the Rise of Flight from D2D and the latest Need for Speed, but then I'm hoping that Steam will take up both games, so am holding off for now. :)
Rise of Flight is a very good price at the moment, but like you say, it may be worth waiting until later (January sales ?)
I have the first one. This latest one has a lot of improvements, which I'd like to explore, but would love to see it on Steam. I'ce asked them if they have any plans to add it to their library.
