I have 6000 songs on a Apple Ipod. I want to move them from the Ipod to my hard drive as MP3 files with all the title information in tact. Help

jiterbug,
The only way I know how to do what you want will take a lot of time and patience. It would involve multiple steps. You would need to make playlists of songs from the 6000 files on your IPOD. You can do this using your iTunes software. These playlists cannot be larger in size than a regular music CD. I'd suggest you use CDRW so you can reuse the disk's as you will be making a lot of playlists with 6000 files.
Once you've made a CD out of the songs on your playlist, you can then rip the files from the CD to your hard drive with your favorite ripper to MP3 format. I still use an old program called Streambox Ripper. It gets the job done for me. It's small and does not require installation. http://streamboxripper.cjb.net/ Click the "Download" words on the left side of the page.
You will have to tag and add album art back yourself.
You can delete the playlist once you have made your CD. Erase the CD once you have ripped the files to your hard drive, converted them to MP3's and made sure they play OK. Then start the process all over again.
Hopefully someone will come along with a program or something that can do this easier and faster for you. Until then....here's a long way.

jiterbug,
you can try Tansee iPod Transfer to transfer your songs from iPod to PC http://www.sharewareguide.net/Audio-Multimedia/Video-Tools/tansee-ipod-transfer.html
as for converting m4a to mp3, you can try ImTOO Audio Encoder http://www.sharewareguide.net/Audio-Multimedia/Audio-Encoders-Decoders/imtoo-audio-encoder.html

I believe Foobar2000 may be of use to you. Fun part is, you wouldn't have to convert them to MP3s (unless you're going to use another portable audio player). Also note that the iPod support is a plug-in and doesn't come with the program itself.
