Highly addictive games. I'd love if i was able to have one of them. It would also be great publicity, as they are highly popular games!

Thanks!
I got my copy. The stupid thing let me set windowed mode at first but when I went in again it said I have to have 16 or 32 bit color (I have 32 bit color) so it wouldn't let me go windowed. If I close a few applications, that problem usually goes away.

I did some more checking. My Windowed problem is not related to the number of apps I have. It may be my graphics board because I let a friend know about this freebie and she doesn't have the problem. Note - I have the highest level of driver for my board and this game is 10 years old!
The problem seems that it does not like it when I start in windowed mode. It switches it back and won't let me reset it. If I exit and re-enter from full-screen mode, it will let me change. Every other time, I can have windowed mode. It's weird!
The problem has been reported to PopCap!

Question - does anybody out there have this game and use a wide-screen monitor? I think that's my problem but I need someone else to test this on!
PopCap game me some things to try (compatibility, admin mode, and resolution). The only change anything made was the resolution. They said to set it at 640X480 (within the properties). If you do that, the game says the resolution is too small to support windowed mode. Big help!
That was when I realized the one difference between my configuration and a friend's (besides the graphics board) is the monitor - I have widescreen and she doesn't. I have the problem and she doesn't. That's why I'm asking if anybody who has my type of configuration in any OS has this game AND this problem.

Dragonlair, I have a 19" monitor. I play my games on full screen all the time. I played a couple of levels of Bejeweled 2, on full screen, and it played just fine.

Dragon I don't have a wide-screen monitor, but I have heard from other users about some problems with older games. Ask your good old friend Google.

Full screen is not the problem and if you can GET it into windowed mode it works just as well. The ONLY problem is keeping it in Windowed mode. Once you set it, if you exit while it's still windowed, it will still open in full screen and refuse to change.
To play windowed, I have to change to windowed, play, change back to full screen and THEN exit.
PopCap has given up on me. They accepted my probably explanation and said they would pass it on. I said if they're not going to fix it (and as old as that game is, I wouldn't blame them for not fixing it), they should list it as a limitation so others with wide monitors will know about the problems.
I have a 22" wide-screen. I LOVE it. It was so strange to purchase a new monitor and be able to EASILY carry it myself (it's an LCD monitor).

I can't help you with the problem, Dragonlair, but I do understand, now, what your dilemma is. If you choose windowed mode, it should stay in that mode, even after closing out the game, and then restarting it.

may help run Screen resolution at 800 by 600 pixels or 1024 by 768 pixels my PC like this all the time.

Glad someone posted it. I was sleeping. Not to worry I have Bejeweled 2 from a couple years ago yet (realarcade).

hotdoge3,
With a wide screen, setting the resolution to 1024x768 all the time causes a "distortion" of the image as the "normal" version of that resolution is 1280x768 for my machine. You also lose most of the benefit of a wide-screen. I may do it for a test, but not all the time.

Missed this one! But I signed up for an account at least. Pop-Cap makes some great games.

Hi Dragonlair, I have a 25 inch widescreen monitor and don't get that problem. It plays beautifully on my system. Maybe it's down to the size of the monitor. (Probably not though)
Posted 14 years ago # -
I was able to confirm my problem. I changed the resolution to 1024X768 just to test and I was able to stay in windowed mode. I also found another circumvention that works but it results in a much smaller window. If I turn off both high-resolution AND hardware acceleration, It stays windowed but the window is much smaller than the high-res window. The high-res window is almost 1024X768 resolution in itself. The smaller one is 1/2 to 2/3 the height and width.

Um...... if the giveaway was for yesterday, why did I get an email at 1:58 A.M today for it......
Posted 14 years ago # -
I dunno, Alchemistlord. I got my newsletter yesterday (Sunday) at 1:55 PM. Maybe it's a time zone difference.?
Posted 14 years ago # -
I got two copies of the newsletter and both ended in my spam folder! So did my game receipt (several hours later) but that wasn't too important. I had already saved the order number (code) and had the game installed and activated.
Posted 14 years ago # -
I dunno, I was in the PST time zone when this happened and when I got the mail.
Posted 14 years ago # -
Alchemistlord, I would say you send your question to them, who distribute the info mail: PopCapGames.
Posted 14 years ago # -
Alchemistlord, I second what graylox said. If you tell them when you got the newsletter, and they can see that you didn't get sufficient notice of the giveaway, they just might decide to give it to you, anyway. You've got nothing to lose by trying. :)

About the wide-screen issue.
I had pre-installed on my computer the wildgames client. The version of Bejeweled 2 on there worked perfectly and the graphics were also perfect. This one tho, does not.
The squared off view with black sides thing, that we often get with wide-screens, but it is also the graphics of the game, they look bad, very oddly bad. The wild games version graphics were crisp and good looking, but this is almost blurred? Even in windowed mode the graphics are not right.
Why is there such a difference? It is the same computer, the same monitor, why is the wildgames version ok with my widescreen, and the popcap version not?
