Yes, "The Baron Munchausen" is a fave. Eric Idle's got a part in there too. How about that forgotten fave "How to Irritate People". Not exactly Monty Python, but definitely some familiar faces in there too.

I guess that I will add my favorites. Do movies coming up count?
First and foremost, is "August Rush". Being a musician, I love that movie. The music is fantastic (it sends chills up and down my back every time I listen to it), and with the addition of the storyline...
Secondly, is "The Holiday". I love chick flicks (I am a guy), and this is my favorite. And the music is also amazing (by my favorite artist, Hans Zimmer)
Third is "Avatar". It has decent music, but no other movie has gotten more emotion out of me. And the 3D was fantastic.
Next is another Hans Zimmer, "Rain Man". Just the concept of the movie is genius. Its pair is "A Beautiful Mind".
LoTR and The Dark Knight tie for 5th and 6th. Both of them are amazing in every way, but neither have a genius "idea" to it, IMO.
Jurassic Park, Silverado, Mulan, and Titanic all tie up for 7th.
And as a side note, if movies coming up count, I personally want to see "Despicable Me" more than anything. The idea is fantastic, and it has a lot of potential.Posted 14 years ago # -
The animated feature "9" finally made it to the screens of the local cinemas in my town. The movie is fun to watch. It hasn't got much of a plot but the stylized animation is top-notch. The way I see it, the story is based on the premise that there is a relationship between the human genome and the soul.
Here's the link to the movie's website:

Rain Man was based on a true story. Discovery channel just had a one-hour special on the guy it was based on. Good movie, though.
A Beautiful Mind and K-PAX I think use a similar premise- self delusion from inside, sorta.
The Mouse That Roared and The Mouse on the Moon are both hilarious movies. Oldies, but classic comedies.
Mousehunt is a great win-lose-win-lose-win movie, and in a far different way so is The Crew.
TimeCop (Van Damme, The Muscles from Brussels), Timerider, Deja Vu, and Retroactive are all engaging time travel travails.Vantage Point isn't time travel, but the way the character viewpoints are interleaved makes it darn near fit into the genre. If you can pay attention, it's a great movie.
The Long Kiss Goodnight features great work by Samuel L. Jackson and Geena Davis.

Here's one I thought of while at work today. Big Trouble in Little China. I love this movie. It is full of over the top action and silliness.
Along the same lines would be the "Escape From" movies. Escape From New York and Escape From LA. Both are fun, campy action movies. If you ever want a good larf, just watch any of these movies.

If you bring up those you have to give The Thing a mention. Speaking of Terry Gilliam... Fisher King anyone?
