My Father-in law is in the hospital and we were told to bring him home make him comfortable till his last day. The doctors feel it will be soon. He is 79 and his lungs are shutting down. I would greatly appreciate everyone adding him to your prayers. Thank you. Printer2.

WR prayers are out for your friends brother.. and prayers ARE answered!

Well I have a fantastic update! The boy has woke up and is alert and talking to everyone and is completely fine and should be allowed to go home Monday. This is odd because usually you don't just wake up from a coma and are completely fine. It's usually a thing that takes a little while to get normal again but then again I guess it depends on how long your in a coma and how it affects your brain. But yes he is completely fine now from what I hear but I think it's good they want to keep him until Monday to monitor him because you never know with head injuries but let's hope all stays well and he's home soon. Thanks for the prayers, never underestimate the power of prayer!

Some people may not believe in prayer for animals but if you do please pray for Buckley, he's one sick puppy dog and I feel so bad for him. We took him to the emergency vet today because when we got up this morning we found he had thrown up in 7 different places, his entire stomach contents. This is the second day in a row that he's done that, but though he did it Friday night he seemed fine yesterday so I wasn't really worried because dogs will do that from time to time. But this morning was different. You could tell he was very uncomfortable, he kept acting like he needed to "go" but couldn't. He would try to sit or lay down and jump up after a few seconds like he was in pain. He wouldn't eat anything and he just walked in circles looking very sad and sick, no tail wagging or any of his usual happy dog actions. The vet took ex-rays and blood-work and found no blockages and said everything looks fine. They gave him a shot to stop the vomiting and gave us pills for acid stomach and possible colitis. He said to feed him a bland diet and make sure he drinks water. He has still not been able to go and has no interest in eating anything. I'm not worried about the eating, I know a couple days with no food won't hurt him, but I wish he could do his business. He looks so sad it just breaks my heart. He looks at me like he's trying to say, "Please fix it mom". You might think I'm nuts but he's my baby and it hurts to see him hurting.
Thanks

Hello Buckleysmom, I hope I'm not the only one but I pray for everything from A to Z which includes Animals who are like family to me .I had a Great Dane named Otis and every time he got sick , he became number one right now as I live alone. He was a year old when I picked him up..I will pray day and night for Buckley . Stay by his side as I'm sure he does for you when you're under the weather.Sadly Otis passed of old age some years ago but he was my best friend for about ten years or so . Steve

Hi BK... YES I certainly will pray for Buckley! These are our babies, entrusted to our care! Right now I have a little feral kitty (2/3's tame) that's been vomiting too. Someone said it might be worms (it's only about 2 months old), and they are blocking him from being able to digest his food or get nutrients from it... and he's been sneezing a lot. So today I take him to the vet to see if they can find out if he has any of the diseases cats get before going further with him. He has a good appetite, but it won't stay down. And we went through a similar thing as Buckley with our Lady (a red bone hound). Took her daily to the vet for a week .. he checked her blood, etc., gave her vitamin shots, bland food, but she absolutely wouldn't eat or drink.. would just turn her head away. Found out her red blood cells were shutting down and she wasn't able to get oxygen. She just lay there. That last Friday when he said let's give it over the weekend that's when we decided we didn't want her suffering anymore.

I am fortunate to have two healthy cats and I certainly hope they remain that way. Buckley, my thoughts and prayers are with ya. woof woof. P.S. anybody know why the cats are looking at me like I'm crazy?? Good luck Buckleysmom.

Thanks to you both. Buckley is today but still not completely himself. He ate just a little food this morning that I hand fed him, and so far has kept it down. We still haven't seen any signs of him "going", but if he did it last night on one of his trips out on his run it's now buried under almost a foot of snow. DH took him for a walk about 2 hours ago, he went willingly but didn't want to go very far. He's been sleeping since they got back. At least he's wagging his tail a bit now and not walking in circles like yesterday. I tried to sleep downstairs last night just to be with him but our couch is awful to sleep on so I ended up going up to bed at 1:30. I left the door open so he could at least come up if he wanted to which he did at 7:30. All I can do is wait a bit longer and see what happens.
Thanks so much for your prayers and concerns I really do appreciate it. I'll keep you posted.Posted 13 years ago # -
Thank you too pavid....I was distracted in the middle of my post and I guess you posted during that time. I should have refreshed before I finished. Anyway....thanks again.
PS....the 1st line of my update was supposed to say, "Buckley is BETTER today". Sorry!

I hope all goes well with Buckley. My thoughs are with you at this time.

So glad to hear Buckley is better today! Prayers are being answered!!
It's so sad, we have them with us such a short time compared to human life spans! Must enjoy them while they are entrusted to our care..
As for our kitty, didn't take to vet, it IS feral after all.. have to catch him first! So went to vet and got some liquid worming medicine to put on it's food and dosed the older one as well. Must be careful, those worms are contagious to humans too.. yuck!Posted 13 years ago # -
Please pray/have positive thoughts for those people in Christchurch New Zealand and their families and friends.

Hi Buckleysmom, As a 3-dog owner myself, I fervently hope that Buckley is continuing to improve. I will be thinking of him and praying for him too. Our 3 dogs are rapidly getting to the age where I will be worrying all the time about them and they are so important to our family, my kids are grown and have left the nest, so my animals have now become my children. All the best to you and Buckley.

Nola, I know what you mean. Our last dogger, Scooter, is 12 and he's really gotten grey. In dog years I guess that makes him 84? But yes, he is our child.. all that's left except for that little feral kitty.. oh, hubby said guess what? I think he's a she! Now we need to think of a girl name, it's a very light grey, almost silver, and feisty as can be at the neighbors dog! Might just called her Feisty? Better get her fixed ASAP before some wandering male comes around!
Nola, are you anywhere near where they had those quakes? Prayers are out for all concerned!

Nola....yes we are praying too and like Copmom I was wondering if you are anywhere nearby.
Everyone....WE HAVE POOPIE!!!!!!! Yes, Buckley finally had success about 20 minutes ago when DH took him for his walk. YIPPPEEEEEEE!!!!!!! Thank you all so much for caring and for the prayers. (I feel like the mommy whose little tyke just learned to go on the potty....lol)
Copmom....I think Feisty is a cute name....go for it. Yes, watch out with those worms! Hope the liquid med works fast and completely.

Hi Copmom and Buckleysmom, No, I'm up the other end of NZ, thank goodness. We are all glued to the tv here with practically 24 hour coverage of the search and rescue and the sights of all the collapsed buildings. It is unbelievable, especially as this is the second really big quake. My daughter and I were in Christchurch in November and we experienced a big aftershock from the September quake then and nothing would have made us stay there after that, and that was tiny compared to yesterday's. Those poor people, a lot of them were still in the process of having their houses repaired after the September quake and now in a lot of cases they have no home at all. With the September quake being in the early morning hours, not one life was lost, unfortunately with this one being in the lunch time there are many people that are under the rubble from buildings fallen onto the pavements or buildings that have pancaked. I don't know what you have heard, but two buses full of people were totally squashed by the rubble fallen from buildings and this is where the main confirmed dead came from. The last time I watched tv, 77 were confirmed dead but 300 are still 'missing', where relatives have reported that family members haven't returned home. There are 'refugee camps' where some of these relatives will be, so we all hope that the death toll will be a lot less as more people get in touch with relatives.
It is a terrible, terrible time and our hearts go out to the Christchurch people. Apparently this quake could be because of the last quake, so I would imagine that quite a few people will leave Christchurch now. I can't say I'd blame them, their city centre is totally wiped out and some other suburbs are ruined. Watching the pictures is heartbreaking.
I'm so pleased Buckley has done doo-doos, you must be so pleased.

Congrats to Buckley! Actually I guess we're not the only crazies.. we have a fenced front yard so we let Scooter out there, and then patiently watch to be sure he's done his 'business'! Then we know he's OK for that day! Just like people.. gotta keep things flowing from one end to the other or we get all icky!
As for quakes, we were in the one in So. Calif. back in 1971 when the kids were little, I'll never forget it. With all the aftershocks, we wondered if they'd ever end. No power, no phones, no communication to know what was going on! It was scary! But guess what? No matter where you live, there's always some kind of act of nature to be concerned about. Up here in the middle of the mountains, we were hit by hurricanes Frances and Ivan a few years ago.. if it's not one thing, it's another!
