i'm interested in a program i can use to do a bulletin--8x11 landscaped page, print on all 4 sides if folded in half (front, inside front, inside back, back). Any ideas?

I recommend "PagePlus" from "FreeSerifSoftware". It's a popular free desktop publishing software that does many things. You can find more info on it here:

MemberFreeSerifSoftware still makes you register at install time and sends you email.
this is sorta aimed at DTP, worth a try: Portable Scribus 1.3.3.12.
I haven't done any DTP for a decade, but there are alternatives- SSuite Office Software is one, they offer a range of products from fairly simple to possible overkill. the software needs no info sent back to the company to run, nor does it need .net or Java.
could be what you need might be done in the lightest WP, WordGraph 7.2,
or the Fully Portable Blade Runner 1.21, or the larger The Fifth Element or Excalibur.there's also the 800 Pound Gorilla of the free office type software- OpenOffice.org 3.2.
search for Desktop Publishing and have fun.
