So it all started October 24, 2006 with Light Artist 1.2...
:)
Here's the link to the first giveaways:
http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/2006/10/I wonder if someone can recall these early days and how they got to know about the project.
It must have been October 2007 when I stumbled upon this place, when Web Stream Recorder Pro 2.0 (now that would make a nice rerun) and Starburn were offered.

The logo text doesn't seem all that different. It's still bolded the same way. Hmm...

It's always interesting to read about the history of a person or entity, for sure.

I remember losing Hyperspace Invader when I changed to a new computer, that was in November 2006,so I've been around for a while now.I was hunting about for free games and programs at the time(nothing much has changed),found a link from a 'freebie' site and ended up here.Been visiting almost daily since, and had some great stuff.

I stumbled upon the project back in late November 2006. My first download was a picture editing software. I can't remember what it was called now (though I could go and search). My first game was the arkanoid TVI, which amazingly I've still got because it was a free standing game (despite several formats since then). From discovering the project back then I think there’s hardly a day that I've not visited the site apart from when I've gone on vacation and even then when I managed to get to the hotels cyber cafe, I'd be checking what software was being given away. It took me a few months to start posting in the forums despite pleas from BuBBy to go post there.
When the project was new I'd get up in the morning make breakfast then go to the site to see what software was being given away. Beleive it or not, at the time it was the hightlight of my day unless I was expecting a new game to drop through the letter box after ordering it a few days previously. Now I just get all my games from Steam so don't have hard copies any more.
I must have downloaded every software package in the first year, but then realized that most of them I never used, so became more selective. Of the many that I have downloaded the ones that have been particularly useful or just interesting I've ended up purchasing. I think my next giveaway purchase is going to be Online Armour, but I'm waiting till my present subscription courtesy of the giveaway project has finished.
My favorite giveaway that I've purchased is AnVir Security Suite (though they didn't actually give the suite away, just one part of it) I've never regretted buying that software. Though I've also purchased loads of the games that they gave away in the first year, most notably the arkanoids and Jets 'n' guns Gold.
