   Zombpocalypse 0.9 [Demo] (40 Mb)

   Description:
   "Zombpocalypse is an arcade shooter, viewed from a top-down perspective. You play a civilian-turned-mercenary employee who've been signed-up to quell an abominable infestation. Use the mouse to orient your sprite and for aiming the weapon. Right-click to fire. Use the keyboard keys to advance your sprite across the terrain. On their dedicated blog, the developer says that future enhancements to Zombpocalypse are postponed, but not cancelled."

   CAUTION: The game contains representations of simulated gore.

   If you like arcade games with incessant firing (e.g. http://x.gametop.com/download-free-games/shooting-onslaught/b2.jpg ), then Zombpocalypse falls into this category. The game is at version 0.9. There are 7 combat arenas to choose from and the visuals have a slightly cinematic feel to them.

   Trying to load the game I get an error that says I need open GL 1.2.1, can I download it somewhere? Thanks looks like a cool game.

   Hi Printer2,

   This Wiki seems to have general info about OpenGL:
   http://www.opengl.org/wiki/Getting_started
   The FAQ says that the OpenGL software is automatically installed with Windows 98/Me/NT/2000/XP/2003/Vista.

   According to Microsoft, the VGA card must support the OpenGL standard, for the drivers to work.

   Usually, updating the video card drivers from the manufacturer's website can help.

   Re-check the listed requirements for Zombpocalypse:
   — A video card supporting OpenGL 1.4 and/or MS DirectX 8.1.
   — 384 MB System RAM.
   — 64MB Video RAM
   — Windows XP with Service Pack 2.
   — A 1.2 GHz CPU.

   About my PC, I have been running Windows 7 for some time. The game was downloaded from FilePlanet.com, which requires (free) registration. This is how my monitor looked during the download...

   I get an error says failed to locate a hardware accelerated configuration of open GL 1.2.1 or better, I thought that my pc. had what it took to play this game but something is missing. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.

   I'm only guessing, but I think your VGA does not have the capability of rendering 3D animated graphics (or maybe it's merely a configuration issue).
   I have a 2nd PC with Windows XP and an ATI VGA card on it. It's evening here, so tomorrow I will install and test the game on the XP machine. I haven't checked to see if the game can be configured to run on Microsoft's DirectX 9.0 standard (instead of OpenGL 1.x). I will try that tomorrow as well and post a reply.

   Thanks Idunno...... my favorite sort of game at the moment (anything zombified, lol). This looks terrific. Pity the game has been put on hold with respect to finishing it up, but then again, that's maybe to out advantage seeing as we are getting virtually a full game. :) Very nice find.

   The game reminds me a lot of Nation Red another zombie game which I bought via Steam. It also has a top down viewpoint. However the graphics on this game actually look slightly better. I do hope the developer considers finishing the game soon. :)

   Hi again, Printer2.

   I'm afraid I got the same error as you had when I installed the game on Windows XP:
   "Assert! Failed to locate a hardware accelerated configuration of OpenGL 1.2.1 or better. Driver=OpenGL13".

   Activating the optional options of my ATI Radeon card had no effect, either.

   Again, I'm guessing that my ATI Radeon card is lacking a feature required by the game. From past experience, I learned that it's best to give up on a game if it doesn't run "straight out of the box".

   However, Zombpocalypse does run great on my Windows 7 PC. On the options screen, there's even a setting to turn-off the simulated gore. Here is an in-game screenshot captured on my computer:

   Sorry I couldn't find a work-around for XP.

    I appreciate you going the extra mile, I have been looking for a better graphics card that will play a lot of the games here. Money is tight and I'm still looking for a good deal.

    The games graphics are not actually as sharp as Nation Red, but are still very good. I like the slightly apainted lok that seems to have become popular in games like Borderlands, Streetfighter IV and Prince of Persia.
