I love this site, it's the first place I stop when I get on the net in the morning, and I think it's wonderful of these people to give software away to people like me ($20. means the difference between hotdogs and hamburger for supper for many people). I don't download everything they offer because a lot of it is of no use to me, a lot of it I don't download because I'm not quite sure why I should want to use it or what to use it for. Reading the comments helps but sometimes they head into computer speak that I haven't learned yet and they lose me completely. And the problem is that 6 mons from now I don't want to discover that a very good program that I really could use, I no longer have access to because I didn't understand it's possibilities at the time it was a giveaway. I would love to see a rating system put in place that would rate ease of understanding, ease of use and usefulness from beginner to expert. Install, read a bit and then forget (like Winpatrol) would be novice level, and how about I let someone else set the expert level as I'm nowhere near there yet. Knowing that I would have to do a certain amount of learning wouldn't stop me from trying a program but knowing that a program...no matter how useful...would require a computer course for me to understand would definitely stop me from doing a useless download, and on dialup, some downloads take a very long time.
Anyway, it's just an idea.
