Got to admit this is one great game. I wasn't so sure when I first started to play it becasue I was looking pfr something Oblivionesque, but this is a fantastic game and well worth purchasing on deal. there's a new expansion out tomorrow as well which will cot you an additional £19.99 if you want it, but it does add a substancial amount of new lands to explore.

One thing that people need to know is, you dont get to carry all that extra stuff to the expansion. You only get to take stuff that is is from the game. In non steam they call them dlc's not sure about steams.
I think it is a load of hog wash that you cant take your dragon bone armor and dragon stuff. You pay really good money to basically be cheated. You know if they took your stuff away period that would one thing, but since they allow it some- I dont think its right they pick and choose what goes and what stays.

I am in the middle of the original game (got it for Christmas) and really enjoying it. Highly recommended if you like this sort of thing (fantasy, character development, combat with weapons/magic/multiple members in your party).

Aliens vs Predator

If you liked the original, which is now available on Steam for a few pounds than you'll love this one. It has more atmosphere than the original, is as scary (makes me almost jump out of my seat) and now is worth the money. You can play as a Marine, Predator or an Alien. The game is very dark, with outside areas bathed in darkness also. The scenery outside is spectacularily alien and the aliens and Predators do look almost real. The only think I found disappointing was that when an alien was killed the acid didn't eat through the floors it just left a slight mark. Still, overall I'm glad i bought the game, even for full price. It's only been out for 5 weeks so I reckon sales haven't reached expected targets. you can get it for 33% off, thats now £16.74 (approx $24 though knowing Steam it'll be cheaper for the US)

before you post alien. I broke down and bought dragon age deluxe for steam. It was to good of a deal to pass up. Watch in month it will be half that price knowing my luck.
Then again they made it so you have to buy the 1st version to play second unlike xbox, so maybe not.

Hey campy, If you like dragon age- check out divinty2. The ones that really didnt care for dragon age migrated over to it, because it has more fluid movements. You can jump and do different things, but they are very similar and both look very nice graphically.

This is one of the best game releases of 2009 IMO. I've hardly stopped playing it with friends since getting it. Better than the first and a lot of fun to play either singleplayer or with up to 4 friends or others. If you like zombie games, games with non stop action and the ability to choose from a variety of weapons including melee weapons such as kitanas, machette's, baseball bats and even frying pans, this is a great co-op game, and the ability to add modded levels to the game is a bonus then this is definitely the game for you. :)

The game has several modes that includes a singleplayer capaign, multiplayer co-op campaign, a versus mode where some play as infected and others as the four man team plus a few more modes. shame this deal couldnt be at the 1st of the month, but then again I'm hoping they have the Dragon Age Awaking's sale at the 1st.

Speaking of Dragon age. Did you know that when you buy the deluxe set. you get the complete works. I was looking to into buying a couple of DLC's, like the return of ostagar and one other, but those came with the steam set up.

I came so close to buying that I had my credit card number entered in at Bioware. I had to go back and delete after I made sure that it wasnt needed.

I wasn't happy with Dragonage initially. I though all the hype was exactly that Hype; but persevering because there were too many good comments about the game I soon came to realize how brilliant the game was. Fantastic game. I don't regret spending the extra on the Deluxe version though at first I was kicking myself. As for today’s offering, it really is worth the money. Fantastic game play and so immersive. I played the game last night with a very close giveaway friend (pavid) and the game play totally made me forget I had the worst headache you could imagine. One of those that gives you ear ache and vision problems. Until we'd finished I was able to function perfectly well because I was so intensely into the game play.

I very much doubt Dragonage Awakening will be on a deal just yet seeing as it was only released a few days ago. I'd recommend going for this; you can then join us on one of our frequent evenings (UK evenings from around 10.30pm up to 01.30am in the morning) :) I've not enjoyed myself more for many years. This is a double A* game and deserves to win over last years blockbuster COD: Modern Warfare 2. (IMO) After playing both games I honestly think L4D2 is far better than C.O.D: MWII :) even though I think COD is brilliant as well.

I can't really compare Dragonage and the two FPS games. They are too different to make a fair comparison. I'm lucky in that I have all three games. I know many wouldn't be able to afford the $150 to purchase all of them at full price; which is why this is such a bargain. The best game at a fantastic discount. I’ve just bought my daughter a copy, so now we have three to play with, lol. (My son and I play sometimes, but he’s massively into Titans Quest and other games at the moment).

That's another Steam offer that got me off the golf course,Left 4 Dead 2 has finally been purchased and is presently downloading.I have been meaning to get this game since it was first released but some other offer always came along to raid my
savings.Now,after a bit of practice,I'll be able to join in for the occasional game !!!

p.s. good to see the Steam GUI,beta has now got a small mode.

Torchlight is a great game. Specs are very low and it even has a setting in the options for "Notebook".
Gameplay is very much Diablo, with colourful cartoon graphics and addictive gameplay.
All of the dungeons are randomly created so no two games are the same - Although there is a nifty feature called "shared chest" where you can exchange items between multiple characters.
This game was quick to download, and well worth £3.75

Thanks for the heads up Whiterabbit-uk, I was really glad that I downloaded this today.

The following list gives the name of the game, then the full price followed by the deal price. you can buy the whole package for even more off. These games are quite old by today's standards, graphically speaking, but the game play is as fresh as it was back then when they were first released. Well worth the price IMO, especially if you don't mind older graphics. The cost of the whole package is less than the cost of the usual price of just one arcade game. Judging by the standard of many arcade games being released by the likes of Big Fish and Gamehouse, these games are outstanding value for money.

Borderlands is 50% off at £14.99 and you can buy each of three expansion packs for £6.50. You can even buy a four pack for even more money off. Why a four pack ? Because this is one of a growing breed of games where you play cooperatively with three other friends (similar to L4D in that respect). Okay, so Co-op has been around for some time (eg Serious Sam the first encounter), but this is a dedicated co-op game. Great fun and lots of content to explore. The graphics are a little different from the norm as well, with a painted look not dissimilar to the last few Prince of Persia games and Street fighter IV.

does anyone have or play borderlands and if so, is it worth buying?

Borderlands has that look that draws me in, but that doesnt mean that's any good.
I came real close to getting it friday morning, but stopped myself. I even had it in the basket, ready for checkout.

As long as its single player is a blast,I'll be happy.

Yes I have it and yes I think it's worth buying. The game was designed around a four player coop game, but you can also play it singleplayer. The base game is certainly worth buying for the price. Check out some of the videos I posted above to see what you think.

Railworks is probbly one of those games only railway enthusiasts will like. It's also probably one of the most expensive games i've eer invested in to date but only because of all the add-on packs which ammout to almost £300 at the moment with more add-on packs coming in the future, on top of that you can purchase scenery packs and other models from a couple of developers who specialize in railway simulators (including Microsofts older game). Railworks has been reduced from £34.99 to £29.99, making it a £5 saving. not much I grant, but this is the premier simulator for rail enthusiasts.

The game includeds several scenarios to play through as well as loads of rolling stock and several locomotives fo you to try. The add-on packs expand the locomotives and rolling stock as well as add loads more scenarios to play through. there is a good scenario editor to create your own. The following is Steams infrmation about the game. All the images posted are from the base game, and show what variety you'll get with just that game. none of the add-ons are required, but they do add an aweful lot more to the game. (Which is why i've been slwoly purchasing them all. I've only got about 7 to buy now, but wont till i see them reduced as I think the full price is too much

Free Roam: Monument

Cement Snoot

Drive a cement train out of Victorville to Barstow using a Snoot Nose SD40-2 engine.
Running Notes: You will need to set the switches to Barstow Yard 10. Do this before you reach the Barstow Yard Gate 01 marker to ensure a smooth transfer into the yard. Similarly, check the switches leading out to Barstow East Yard 1 are set after you have dropped off your freight cars.

Against the Grain

You are moving hoppers along the line starting with a set of full grain hoppers at Monument. Bring these to Castle Rock where new empties must be taken to Larkspur.
Running Notes: After you have dropped off the hoppers at the Castle Rock Cement Plant you need to pass back through the yard to couple to the waiting empties. The best path through the yard is through Castle Rock Cement Arrival 2 then couple to the empties with your engines pointing towards Larkspur.

Don’t Stop Moving

Take a long, heavy train up the Cajon Pass on a winter morning. There are higher priority trains on the line so stop at signals when needed. However, coming to a stop on the steep up grades of the pass may cause problems.

Running Notes: Ensure the train on the North track reaches Summit before you. This may involve a slower climb up the Pass. After Summit, both you and the other train will be travelling North on different tracks until Lugo where you will end up on the same track. Allow the other train to pass the junction at Lugo first so you can follow in the next signal occupation block.
Free Roam: San Bernardino

An assortment of engines are located at San Bernadino on the Cajon Pass route. Click an engine to start driving; as you explore the route you can jump into any other available engine in the vicinity. Other available engines, and assorted freight cars, are scattered throughout the route.

The series' gameplay could be seen as a bit of a throwback to earlier first-person shooters. Released during a time where shooters were becoming increasingly realistic and more concerned with "authenticity", Serious Sam offered up traditional, Quake-style shooting. However, the more modern technology of the time allowed for a new take on that classic formula. Closed-in corridors are mostly replaced with wide-open environments, small groups of enemies are replaced by dozens attacking at any given time, and there are many hidden areas and treasures to find, often in obscure and counter-intuitive locations. Combat makes up most of the games, with Sam's only help being NETRICSA (NEuro-TRonically Implanted Combat Situation Analyser), an advanced computer AI surgically implanted in his brain. NETRICSA serves as an in-game strategy guide, cataloguing encountered enemies and weapons, and at the same time providing bits about the background story and hints on how to progress. Ammunition and weapons are plentiful, and guns, for the most part, do not need to be reloaded. Enemy designs are whimsical and often take inspiration from mythology and fantasy, and include anything from flying harpies, to giant bipedal cybernetic monsters, to headless suicide-bombers.
Serious Sam features cooperative gameplay, something not commonly seen in modern PC first-person shooters. Besides network/online play, Serious Sam also allows for split screen action supporting up to 4 players and this is an even rarer multiplayer feature for PC games these days, although very common in gaming consoles.

The latest version uses the latest engine and is a massive improvement on the original although the actual game play is virtually the same. Well worth the asking prce IMO. Serious Sam the 1st encounter was released back in Novemeber 2009. both games compliment each other. You can buy the first encounter via Steam for £14.99 now.

I bought this one because I was seriously into games like Motocross Madness 2 and Motocross Mania several years ago, both of which are a little dated now. Simplz Zoo £3.59 - ~$5 (usually £3.99 - ~$6)

This was an excellent buy. I bought it for my daughter who is obsessed by anything with animals in it (she wants to be a vet), but found I was drawn to the game as well. It's certainly a great game for the family, especially if you have young children.

The game follows the latest craze of combining two genes together (for example Puzzle Quest and Gyromancer). Additional to the above deals there is now the midweek madness offers which include the classic Aliens v Predator for £2 (~$3) and the Commando's series (includes four full games) for £4.99 (~$7)

I can vouch for both games I no longer have AvP but I played it out and was always very impressed with the game play. It kept you on the edge of your seat. It's certainly dated by today's standards and I think direct 2 Drive has the remake on offer which I bought when it was released a few months ago. The latest loses none of the on the edge of your seat feeling and also has brilliant graphics. Still, this is well worth paying the paltry sum that's being asked.

The commando's series is also quite old, but being a rts type game the graphics are still quite good. Again well worth the asking price.

I'll post some images when I have time.
