   It's alright but perfdisk v7 works much faster better for me. (opposite of bloatware)
   Probably better than wimboz version though.

   I was about to sign up for it and then it occurred to me that would have to trick my computer to be able to run it, since I use windows 7. This might not matter for general files, but for placing of system files, it could make a huge difference. NT 4.0 is not W7 and I wouldnt expect O&O to place the system files in the same way to lets say Vista, which would be a closer system.

   I'm not a computer expert by any means, but you are talking about billions of lines of code that need to be place strategically throughout the disk and making the the program think its basically a windows 98 computer to me is dangerous for something like this.

   Just my opinion, but I could be wrong.

    I successfully installed this on Win 7 (32-bit) OS, and it's operating beautifully. Thank you, Judydog, for pointing out the "Win2000" compatibility issue for installing this program on a Win-7 system. Your tip was very helpful.

    Hi Terri, The window version is very basic. No bells and whistles. O&O defrag can defragment your drive while you are using it, but will only defrag files that are not being used. I actually use Diskeeper Pro which is similar. The defragmentation process only occurs when your computer is idle, for example if you don't do any key strokes or mouse clicks within a specific number of seconds the defrag will start up. When you do something it stops. This ensures you can use your computer without any loss of efficiency, but still get your drive defragmented. You can leave O&O defragmentation on ai=uto, so that it keeps your system in tip top condition. Windows can only be run manually. That is with Windows defragmentation its all or nothing. You can't use your computer while the defrag is working. Well, you can, but from what I remember it will just restart the defrag from the beginning. However I'm talking Win XP. I never used Vista's defrag and don't know anything abput Win 7 yet.

    I share Txnnok's concerns regarding compatibility mode.
    Programmes which have such importance for the system, should be up-to-date. Well that is mainly a gut feeling, as I'm not nerd enough to substantiate it.
    Games or graphics tools may be old versions.

    Rabbit, as far as I understand my Vista, the defragmentation runs in the background; it's no longer so, that you have to run it over night (or over 2 nights and three days, like my old puter).

    I find the interface sort of... different. Aside from the Office 2007 look, the defrag map was the most different I've seen. It blinks all different colors, with hues that are similar to ones found from Halo 2 (it's probably just me. I was playing it this morning). Interesting how it uses a server-client system (Comodo asked if I should let the client GUI through to a port on my local system). I guess it's originally designed for their Server and Workstation editions, but might as well work on a single system.

    @Whiterabbit: Sounds like the Windows defrag you were talking about comes from 98. That happens a lot with Win98, though I haven't seen it happen with XP yet. However, its progress meter is inaccurate and it indeed takes forever to complete defragging.

    Since the download is from the archive section, perhaps everyone realizes that the licenses for version 11 and not current version 12.

    Others are getting a fast registration response but I am not. It has been almost an hour since I registered for the O&O Defrag program and received the confirmation of my registration and a statement saying that the license will be mailed to me quickly.

    The only reason I am fooling with this defragmentation program is that it suggests dual operation. One defragmenting solution is a whole disk defragmentation while another solution defragments files only. Product description alludes to a separate "quick defragmentation program". Statements on the website hint that this suite of programs are a quick solution to be defragmentation process - which is normally a long drawn out affair.
