This is one great program everyone needs on their computer. The free version has saved my butt a few times.

Thanks for the post delenn13. I am still reading it, but wanted to direct people to the right area. I like winpatrol, but never like the little pooch that came with it.

Free for life though for 99 cents is worth it, I just hope they take paypal.

edit: I clicked to purchase the regular 29 dollar version and they do have paypal, so I will buying it on the 29th.

Using PayPal: Do you have a coupon?

Coupons are not supported in PayPal but just Email support@WinPatrol.com following your purchase and you will receive your coupon rebate.

As for PayPal and coupons, BillP has added some FAQs to the original linked blog page:

Originally, a coupon was going to be made available and valid for one day only. To make the transaction easier all upgrades on Jan 29th will see the same 99 cent special.

Yes, he does bark. He's a "watch dog", after all. But there is an option to turn it off. When I first got it, I used to go places/do things to make it bark deliberately. :) It's cute.

He ditched the idea of coupons as Delilah said. So it is credit cards or Paypal. Since this is a lifetime license, I am going to donate a bit more than the 99 cents. It's only fair. Those bigger companies want a fee every year.Just a thought.

The deal is now active. At this point in time there are 23 hours to run before the deal ends. There's a link to the top left of the payment page for those who wish to use PayPal. The deal has also been increased to two copies of Win Patrol Plus. You can only use one licence per computer. Buying two gives you a single licence code, but it's registered for two; (assuming you buy 2).

If you want to pay more for the registration codes there's a seperate PayPal link for gifting money to the developer. As Delenn says, 0.99 cent is amazing for a life time deal with unlimited free upgrades.

From all of the information I've read about this program it would seem there has been a lot of work put into the program. I'm impressed enough to purchase 2 copies.

Thanks to the Great Mr. Bill P. (Dad of Scotty, the WinPatrol dog) who decided to offer the same deal everywhere (PayPal, Checks, Money Orders and Credit Card), I did get the deal!

And it works, I got the code right away, downloaded and installed the freeware and after following the simple upgrade instructions, it is now the PLUS version.

I'm known as always on the lookout for a bargain,this offer definitly falls into that catagory.Also went for broke and got 2 licences,with the Online Armour offer today as well all my pc's should be well covered.

Yes, Online armour is one of the better giveaways. i'm really pleased that its being given away again. The last time was last May (I think), so the licence only had 5 months to run, also I was on holiday when it was given away, so could only install it to my lap top. I should have bought it really, but Games have been given priority over the past few years. :)

plus win Patrol looks really useful as well. It clashes with Anvira's securty suite, which I purchased following the basic version being given away a few years ago, but both tools have things that the other doesn't have, so I'm definitely a happy bunny today, lol.

Rabbit, if you're referring to Avira, what do you mean about them clashing and how do you deal with that?

BTW are there any AV programs that let you do a quick scan instead of having to wait for the full system scan as you do with Avira? I seem to remember A-squared was like that but I could never get the full scan to run completely.

I bought it but am not really sure what I bought. It's scary when I see how many things are running on my computer and will take me awhile to figure out what a lot of them are and if I need them or not.

When I first looked at WinPatrol vs. WinPatrol PLUS, I couldn't see a whole lot of difference, but with so many respected people recommending it, and such a good deal, I went ahead. And now I see that the information database alone is well-worth the price, certainly the bargain price, and probably the full price, too.

Terri, I don't know what all those processes running on my machine are, either. But I am slowly educating myself: If you double-click on a process, you're taken to the BillP Studios online database of process descriptions, where the process is described, and rated as to whether it's safe, unsafe, or depends on the circumstances. Awesome info, concise, well-written, and helpful (to me, anyway).

And Delenn, I am surprising myself, becoming rather fond of the little dog. I haven't turned him off and probably won't. I see what you mean about deliberately trying to make him bark. He's fun! Thanks to you, and to BillP, for an awesome deal, and an awesomely concise piece of software.

Maybe it's my imagination but it seems my computer booted up quicker today after I "killed" one process. So for that alone it is worth $.99.

Here is a nice quick summary of what this does. As Face mentioned, the PLUS version is still 99 cents today (Saturday). I got two, one for my desktop and one for my laptop.

Thanks for the heads up on this - just got mine today - 30th January (due to extension of offer). Been using the free version on and off since the 90's! This is a great offer so I hope everyone get's in on this while they still can.
