Steams doing it again - taking all my money......:)

Steam has started its Xmas sale. It's similar to the last one last month, with several games available with massive reductions for example Grand Theft Auto for less than £4, Operation Flashpoint (probably the most realistic FPS game ever to date) half price (only released last month), Mirrors Edge (released earlier this year on PC, for £3.24, Stalker Shadow of Chernobyl (released 2007) £1.39, Defence Grid £1.74. That deal rolls over in just under 2 days, then we get a whole bunch more. Then if it works the same as last time it'll change over every 24 hours. Theres also packs such as the THQ, ATari, EA Games , Strategy First games plus loads more selling games with big reductions till 3rd January.

Man, I'm so freakin kicked off right now. I expected a sale from steam, but nothing of this caliber. If I would have know I would put money back for it. They really need to start putting out news letters in advance of the sales, at least a month or a week or two.

I've got enough to buy The Gta package and another really cheap game, but I just want Mirrors Edge. I have been using a friends copy, well I installed it anyway, but I would like my own and on steam would be even better. this a one is only a one day sale

Oh by the way your avatar game is 24.99

I was hoping that battlefields2 was in this sale, but I havent found it yet.

Off to do more looking. I was coming here to see if you posted this and looks like you have.

After seeing the price of Avatar Stephen, I read the reviews and quickly decided to pass on it lol. I figured it would be too good to be true. Poor ratings from ign and users alike.

If you're talking about the movie, it is definitely worth the money. See it in 3-D. If you're talking about a game, I don't know anything about that.

James Cameron's Avatar: The Game (PC) currently has a Metacritic score of 65 based on seven reviews with a range of 77 to 40. The Xbox, PS3 and Wii versions which have more reviews have averages between 58 and 61.

Well, ended up getting Mirrors Edge-4.99, Rome Total War Gold-2.49, Foreign Legion- Buckets of Blood- 1.49 or 1.99. I already had defense grid- fun game.

really wanted the company of heroes- badly- half price for the whole saga

flashpoint would have been nice esp. for 19.99

saints row 2- 14.99

I gotta quit. I'm to old for this stuff and feel like a kid in a candy store.

Anyone else pick anything up?

Haha, a kid in a candy store, that's a good way of putting it.

So far I've picked up Braid for $2.50, Indigo Prophecy for $3.60ish and the Jedi Knight Pack for $9.99.

Also got my eye on the orange box which is about $20.

And, finally (for now, lol), I am trying not to be tempted by the id Super pack (with all the quakes, doom, wolfensteins) at $23.

The worst/best part is there is still many more deals to come.

Was expecting something like to come along and was determined to ignore it when it did.So much for determination then,went and bought Stalker;Clear Sky,Red Orchestra,Nation Red,Raven Squad and STCC-Complete.Fortunately still have some funds left in my 'games account' card as I am thinking about Dirt2.

Deserthead, GET Dirt 2. It's brilliant. Much better than Dirt; though the original Dirt is still fabulous. Apart from the latest Need for Speed Shift, I'd say I've had more fun playing Dirt 2 than any other racing/rally game apart from maybe Flatout Ultimate Carnage and Fuel. Dirt 2 is so playabl and the range of different types of races keeps you interested. the graphics are fantastic. If you have Win 7 you'll get the benefit of the latest DX11 which looks amazing. Bump mapping etc is just out of this world. You'll see the grit flying. :) All the others you mentioned are also brilliant, though I've still not got STCC - The Game but have Race 07 which I got with GTR2. Race 07 is a great game.

That's a bu****r about Avatar the Game. I was really hoping it would be something special. Maybe I'll wait for a few months and see if it comes down in price. Though Steam are still not selling it in the UK despite its release back in early December. Maybe it was a good thing, as I'd have bought it outright immediately.

Went for it,ordered and downloading as I write,there's still a couple of games I,m after but they will have to wait(well,maybe)until I've at least played a few of my recent purchases.The pc I put together over the last couple of months seems to be 'running in' quite well,Win 7 taking a bit of getting used to after years of XP.Decided to run both new and old pc's side by side for a while until I decide what games and apps to keep on which machine.

Nice one Deserthead (didn't think to mention it last night, bu assum you'd looked. did you considerbuying th codemasters deal first? There was 18 games for the price of less than 2 of the latest games in the package. I bought dirt 2 and Operation Flashpoint: Dragon rising for full price, both within the last several weeks, and they cost me over £60. you can get both those games plus 16 other excellent titles for only £44 (approx $65) till 3rd Jan........another amazing bargain from Steam.

Had a good look at the Codemasters deal,decided against it as I already have a few of the games,also there's a wee bit too much cricket in there for me.

Stocko, i was wanting the exact same thing to for my limited budgeted. I went ahead passed on braid and didnt noticed indigo, but the id super pack caught my eye to. i already had most of Half Life games.
good buys though!

deserthead, Yours represents what I want if my budget was larger and I didnt blow all away at the beginning of the month. That is is the downside of being payed monthly by the state.
Did you happen to get flashpoint at the beginning of the steam sale. I believe it was like 19.99, maybe cheaper.
Have y'all (rabbit,deserthead) got to play dirt2, is it as fun as it looks? I am a not into racing games, but they tend to make offroad games more fun.

Oh, yea, I have Windows 7 even coming from Vista. It is a huge difference in looks and speed. DX11 is so sweet.
I also use nvidia 3d. The 3d grphics become more colorful, sharper, and clearer.

By the way, Nvidia had an update for driver on 195.62 November 26, 2009 the beta

Hey rabbit steams got my battfield stations on slae today for 7.49 u.s. I think I/m gonna have to borrow money for this one if I can make it in time, 7am here- 11 am it will be over. It'll be tuff,watch everyone will have to be somewhere today. I'm such a pessimist.
Well at least d2d has it for sale to for 14.99 till the 1st.

one of heir deals sold out it was so good, wonder what it was. Regardless, you get a hundred dollars worth of games and an upgrade to system.

Wohoo, I got it, Battlestation2 is mine. was tempted to get redfaction instead, but RF scored 81 and B2 scored 92 plus has rabbit's seal of approval.

Hey stocko, you oughta take look at the eidos pack. its 15 dollars more than the id pack 49.99, but you get a ton more of good games with it. I actually have three of the games, but that Batman and Tomb Raider: Underworld would more than pay for that package.

Once I get some time in on this rabbit, maybe we can play online, if I like it of course.
