Hi georgebush, welcome to the forums.
Be always careful with downloads of unknown "security tools", very often they are fake tools or even malware.
I read several warnings about that website you linked to, e.g. on http://www.mywot.com/Here are 2 reliable links with some advice how to get rid of the ask toolbar:
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/753826
http://www.ghacks.net/2011/03/04/ask-toolbar-removal-how-to-uninstall/One way to protect your system could be: http://www.winpatrol.com/
Good luck.

hello georgebush
the ask toolbar and most toolbars come bundled with software you install and do not uncheck the extra offerings that come with the installer
thay make it hard sometimes to figure out durning the install on purpose becouse thay make money off the extra stuff that gets installed so you have to be carefull when installing software
you also need to be carefull where you download things from
some legitimate software come with ask toolbar like the free Avira Antivirus software to use there webscanner part of the software but you do not have to install the toolbar but thats what you get to have to use it for free
graylox has good advise as alwise in the ghacks link but i would also install Malwarebites Antimalware as a second opinion scanner to your Antivirus software as your AV might not look for everything because some people like ask search
i do not because i know where thay came from (long story)ask is a PUP (potentially unwanted program)
Malwarebites is free but offers a 30 day trial of the pro version that you can uncheck when installing and could find left over things after uninstalling the ask toolbar
http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/malwarebytes_anti_malware.htmllove Winpatrol been using it for a long time :)
thanks
James
