hello
thanks for the info but be careful with this software
i installed it in a Win xp sp3 VM on Virtualbox
it made me uninstall Shadow Defender
it says this as you install
Read the following text carefully before installing FastRestore:
1. If you install other similar software, in order to avoid compatibility issues, please uninstall it.
2. Scan your computer with antivirus software before installing and make sure there is no system problem on your PC.
3. Strongly recommend that you do defragmentation on the system disk.
4. Installation of FastRestore on a GPT disk with UEFI-based motherboard results in automatically restore for each booting. And there will be no boot screen or hotkey available.
5. Install FastRestore, Windows System Restore may be automatically disabled, please be sure to back up important data before the restoration.
6. Install FastRestore should avoid doing defragmentation on protected partition(s).
7. The TRIM of SSD is not compatible with FastRestore, TRIM will be disabled.
it has a boot screen that you can uncheck so it must change the MBR
on the proected partitions durning install it says
note "disable boot screen has higher compatibilty but will be restored automatically at each boot GPT disks do not support the boot screen based on UEFI motherboard
i downloaded something to my desktop and used it to restore and it worked as said the download was gone but it seems more like Keriver 1-Click Restore
i did not see a boot cd for using to do a restore and things that change the MBR can mess up a computer like a ACER that uses the MBR to restore back to factory settings from the hidden partion as i found out the hard way on my old XP pc but i had made the restore dvd's (thank goodness) or i would of been stuck
when uninstalling the software that changes the MBR it is replaced with the stock XP one from WinXP and there go's the ACER part of the MBR to never restore again unless you made the restore dvd's
so thank you but no thank you
James
