James is right, you should take care if you decide to download from other sites other than the developers. The giveaway team do repeat programs, but it's not guaranteed.
What I'd do is contact the developer and explain that you really liked their product; give some reasons, then tell them you had the giveaway copy, but it stopped working and at this time you can't afford to buy it. They may then give you a licence. I've received free software from several developers after writing to them with similar reasons as I've mentioned above. Again, such suggestions may not bear fruit, but it's worth trying.
It was a developer who suggested this to me after they gave me a copy of a back up program that had been given away here several years ago.

loook i only try to find a few programs as free only because i dont have a credit to suport to pay n suport the developer...
to be frank i dont know even one developer that would alow you to get their progie for free unles several years pasd and has alredy sold good.. but maybe thats it bec i havnt trully searched deeper...
but at anyhow i totaly agree with both...
and hey i supose here is a very safe place to get these software that u allow every once n in a while to get right?
i hope to see if not the same maybe something similar to it..

Since you're unwilling to buy the product (from 2009?) why don't you switch to freeware? A quick search will give you scads of 3D freeware including:
3d Studio Max
Art of Illusion
Autodesk 123D
Blender
DAZ Studio
Google Sketch Up
SculptrisI do understand that drafting software has a steep learning curve but you either pay the price in the time to learn new freeware or in cash to keep the old. Of course, you also have to hope that new versions of your paid software don't force you to relearn how to do everything you once could do in your sleep.

Hi Jennygr,
I've received free software from several developers since I lost my job several years ago due to a serious road traffic accident; and most of it has been current software, not old software that has been superceeded. As Chris points out the freeware market is well worth checking out. there's masses of free software that does the job just as well. (Sept 19th 2005).
You can also get new software by offering to beta test. Just a though; especially if money is tight.
Another anvenue you could try, especially if you were interested in making a career out of using graphic software; check out the directory of grant making trusts (that's what it's called in the UK - I'm sure most countries will have something similar). When I was doing my Masters degree (M.Sc.) I was very short of cash, so wrote off to loads of trusts that give money to specific career's/choices/things. The subject of my Masters degree was looking at environmental and health effects of heavy metal pollution (specifically Lead, Zinc and Cadmium). I looked through the directory (found at my local library) and chose those trusts that gave money for environmental and health related issues and was rewarded with a couple of sponsors that paid for my lab bench fees and consumables for the chemicals I needed for the tests I carried out (these costs were astronomical and as I was sponsoring myself through the Masters. The help I received from these trusts was very useful. I did the same thing when I did my undergraduate degree course{B.SC. (hons)}. I'd accrued a massive overdraft by the time I was in my final year and wrote off to my corps benvolent fund for help (I was ex army). Basically the benevolent fund operated in a similar manner to the grant making trusts. It was the Corps (Royal Corps of Signals) fund that suggested I look at the directory of grant making trusts if I needed further funding as they only gave out once to any individual. They paid off all my credit cards and bank overdrafts (that amounted to a few thousand pounds - back in the mid 80's that was a lot of money)
When selecting the trusts just look for those specific to your interests, then write telling them about your stuggles and what you hope to achieve and what you need. Most of these trusts give guidelines on what they are looking for. There's millions of dollars/pounds/euro's etc out there waiting for worthy causes and that cause can be getting software so that you can pursue a self taught career. You just have to be persistent and spend a little time researching to find the right trusts. It took me several days of searching the directory, listing all of those I thought would be possibles then writing to all of them. I wrote rather than typed as it's more personal. There's also a little luck thrown in. One of the trusts that I received money from said the only reason I as granted the money was because one of the trustee's came from my home town. :)
I hope the above is of some use?
p.s.
It always helps if you can give some evidence, such as examples of the work you've done in the filed you are interested in. I got my university professor to wrie a reference for me.
