If you have one of the later versions you can try Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems. Otherwise, this link might help: What to do if you can't download or save files

Hi Chris
Will try that thanksPosted 11 years ago # -
When I click on D/L now on a programme, it takes about 15mins to appear on desktop,
when I have the folder on desktop, I then have to D/L the programme,
before it used to go on desktop straight away in a folder to unzip
then I would D/L the programme, its so annoying not knowing how to sort this Grr

What version of Firefox are you using? Click "Firefox | Help | About" to find the version
It occurs to me that your issue of "it used to work and a some days ago it quit working" might correspond to the release date of one of the last two FF versions:
Version 23.0.1 - August 16, 2013
Version 23.0 - August 6, 2013If you had previously been successfully using Version 22.0, from June 25, 2013, then you may want to revert to that version.
First, Export Firefox bookmarks to an HTML file to back up or transfer bookmarks, make a note of which extensions or add-ons you use, then download either version 21 or 22 from here: Install an older version of Firefox, uninstall FF, install the version you just downloaded, import your bookmarks, install your add-ons, and turn off the automatic updates (Firefox | Options | Advanced | Updates - select either "ask" or "never")
FWIW, I got off the FF automatic update wagon a long time ago because of new updates that weren't compatible with add-ons that I was using. It seemed that just when everything was working a new version of FF was released which broke the build once again.

hello
i know this is from last year but GOTD changed wrappers and your Antivirus and/or
other security program could see the download as bad and mess with it also after
a deff.update and now see it as a F/PGOTD wrapper is updated
http://blog.giveawayoftheday.com/gotd-wrapper-is-updated/just a thought
thanks

Think what i mean here is when you want to D/L a programme it says proceed to D/L page, when i go on there and proceed to D/L it does not not show me the D/L or telling me how long the D/L will take as it used to throwing files into a folder.
I just tried this on IE and it showed me the time to D/L and the files going into the folder.
where as now i dont see anything until the programme has D/L to the desktop. Thanks for all your help and suggestionsPosted 11 years ago # -
Hi Fraval, did you resolve the problem? If you didn't, I'd consider re-installing your operating system. I know that may sound like a drastic option, but it can actually be a rewarding experience for several reasons that I've outlined below.
I've had problems with my Win 7 installation now for ages, and since installing Sound Frost from the giveaway several weeks ago, my Win 8 platform has also been problematic; I run a dual boot system)
Odd things have been happening for example, whenever I right click on a folder, windows Explorer freezes and I have to close explorer down. I can't send a shortcut to the desktop via the right click options, plus several other problems. In win 8, my Steam client has been totally disabled so I can't play any Steam games, and various other annoyances have appeared, including redirecting my browser to unwanted sites (I use I.E., Chrome and Firefox)
I've backed up as much of my registry ass possible by exporting various keys; mainly my installed DVD based games. It's annoying having to re register them, especially those that have limited activation's, so I always export keys if possible. (You just have to access your registry editor (type regedit in the search field).
Remember you are not supposed to copy giveaways as the licence you get for free is only valid on the day of installation, so cheating the system, means you would be running an illegal copy of the giveaway program if you were to find activation details and export them. exporting keys allows ytou to add the keys back to the registry once you've reinstalled your O.S. simply by clicking on the exported key, which is saved as an exe file.
Anyway, I digress somewhat. It could be you've picked something up that's causing the problems. I always find when I have a problem that after several weeks of trying to fix it I've not succeeded, I back up everything possible then format my disc and re-install the operating system. This has a three fold effect; it clears my discs of unwanted clutter, it ensures any malware I may have inadvertently picked up has been deleted as well as speeding up the system significantly. I then add all of the registry keys I've exported to ensure I don't have to spend hours re registering my purchased programs. (I don't bother with the giveaways I've installed. I've been lucky enough to be able to purchase just about all of the programs I envisage I'd ever need).
