I’ve got three excellent games today. The first one is an updated version of Death Rally that has been posted in the forums before, but not this version which has been updated to play without DOSBox, then I’ve got a rather risqué game called Love chess. I know I’ve already posted several different versions of Chess over the last few weeks, but I was saving this one till last. I was going to post them all together, but then though it would be better if I split them. I think all five versions that I’ve posted (Chinese Chess, Star Wars Chess, National Lampoons chess, Bobby Fischer’s chess and now Love Chess all have something different about them, whether it been the spoofiness (new word) of National Lampoons, the traditional Chinese version of Chinese chess, or the teaching game of Bobby Fischer, I think all of them warrant a download. Today’s game also has the advantage over most of the others in that you don’t need DOSBox to play it (only Chinese Chess was playable in XP). Love Chess is not recommended for children or teenagers under 18 years of age due to some explicit scenes (all artistic and no real images are used). I wasn’t sure whether to include it but I think a warning should suffice for those who may find it too much. It wouldn’t be fair not to post it as I’m sure many will derive pleasure from playing the game. It’s all meant to be for fun, right!

This game was posted last year in the wheeled games thread and again in this project not that long ago as an extra to one of the posts made by Wizzard in week 52, but it was just mentioned in passing; however you needed to use DOSBox to run the game. I’m sure many are put off using DOSBox (unnecessarily so IMO, but then again it took me ages to finally use the emulator). Anyway Remedy games the original developers of Death Rally have upgraded the game so that it runs on XP with service pack 3, Vista and Win 7. Now everyone can enjoy the game.
The basic idea behind Death Rally: win races, gather more money, buy upgrades to your vehicle. In between wreck your opponents, shoot your way through bystanders and keep the pedal to the metal!
