   I have news for y'all.

   It now appears that the Gamehouse toolbar selection option(s) for users has been removed. Google Chrome is now automatically included in the game installation when the free game of the day is downloaded. When I un-installed several games from revo uninstaller, I discovered in revos' rundown of the registry that Google Chrome "bundle" is now hidden and automatically downloaded onto our pc's with the game installation. I chose to remove the google chrome installation from Revo.

    Michelle, I always unchecked that Chrome offer when downloading/installing. Apparently enough other people did likewise, so GH decided to 'give' it to us, on their own. I keep my desktop icons hidden, now, so would only see the icon if unhidden. I think I did notice it on my desktop not too long ago. I wondered how it got there.

    That's why I asked - I was concerned that Gamehouse was sneaking it in...

    BTW - anyone else getting the Gamehouse is down for routine maintenance message? It's been that way since late last night for me.

    MarjoryM....no problem here either.

    As for the Google Chrome issue.....just now when I went to download Shutter Island the check box is there again, in fact there are two boxes...one to download Chrome and one to make it my default browser.

    Marjory, the thing I have noticed with GH is that here recently I have had trouble getting to download the giveaways. I would click onto the box on the home page, which takes you to the download page, but instead of the usual page, it would go to the page for purchasing the game. I had to work with it to get the games, a few times.

    I've had a few problems recently with downloading the free game from GH, but I've managed to do it eventually each time. I find that it helps if I clear my cache first, then download the installer (no problem), but when I go to run the installer it first of all comes up with the small screen with the shaded hatched line, then often goes to a white screen and sticks there. I then stop this with Ctrl+Alt+Del, then try again and it often gets a bit further the second time. Frequently it takes three or more goes before it actually installs the game. However, I've had no mention of Chrome and it certainly is not present on my computer. For the record, I run Windows XP, Firefox 3.6.13 with AdBlock Plus installed (I've had my suspicions that this may be where the hold-up occurs). Once I can actually install the game, it runs perfectly well with the adverts occurring (which I'm happy with - it's free, after all).

    I don't know if this helps at all, but it does look as if something has been changed with the installer recently.

    Just thought I'd let everyone know the current game giveaway is http://www.gamehouse.com/download-games/golden-trails-the-new-western-rush, which is a HOG. Judging from the blurb and screenshots, it looks like it is an interesting game.

    Note minutes later: Not that I can download it. I've clicked onto the home-page link several times, and it just goes to the page I gave the link for. :(

    I couldn't get this when I saw it earlier, but I've just tried again and it's downloaded this time. It took the usual couple of goes to get it to work but it looks OK. It's got very good reviews.

    Is anyone having this problem? For the past several downloads, while the game is downloading my internet connection is disconnected so I can't surf other sites. This doesn't happen with other downloads. Any ideas?

    BTW today is Faded Reality.

    We haven't heard from Michelle for a while. I hope you're OK, Michelle.

    I just downloaded Faded Reality with no problems however I think I've seen the lost internet connection on a couple of the other large downloads. The download stopped saying No internet connection however when I tried to access Google all was fine. The connection was there. I tried the download again and all was fine.

    I also hope Michelle is OK.

    I'm getting a message that my connection has been lost but it hasn't, I'm connected and doing other things. I tried stopping everything but the download/install but that doesn't help. Also, it's not just with the free games. Last night I tried to reinstall one I purchased previously and I got the same thing. If anybody figures out what's up please let us know.

    Bk...from the Gamehouse support page:

    Firefox 3.5:
    1. Click the Tools menu.
    2. Click Clear Recent History.
    3. Select Everything in the Time Range drop-down menu.
    4. Click the arrow next to Details.
    5. Uncheck everything except "cache". Make sure "cache" is checked.
    6. Click Clear Now.
    7. Restart your browser and try your download again.

    I hope Michelle is doing good.
    It has been more than two weeks since she last posted.

    I did that.....no luck......still get the same message.....UGH!!!!!

    I also tried using IE but the same thing happens.
    Have any other suggestions?

    AFAIK it could be a temporary ISP problem.
    I usually click on ' repair' connection (right clicking on the connection symbol in the notification area to flush DNS cache etc. and get a new connection.
    And that usually works like a charm. :)

    It makes me feel better that it's not just my computer, but it's a pain because I usually do other things while I'm waiting for the download from GH to finish. Faded Reality was actually a rather small file so I don't think the large file size would apply in this case.

    I am okay. I am worried about lumps in my right leg. The doctor doesn't think it is cancer. He said if it is I would have cancer somewhere else. I have to wait till May 5 to see him again. He said they can cut them out.
