MemberUgh. I've been wanting to play this game for some time, so I greedily downloaded it and now regret it. The constant ad's are disruptive to the mood; but it's free so I can't complain. It just doesn't work with how I have my security set up because I'm not going to give Real free access through my firewall in this lifetime.
My REAL problem was the uninstall. I use Revo uninstaller which uses the program's uninstaller and then scans for leftovers. There's a lot of junk I have to sort through and delete manually; and not all the high-lighted items are labeled, some are just numbers and are connected on top of labeled real arcade junk. It also seems all the junk from the Chrome browser I checked the "no" box on is still there. Nothing is free, even beyond the expected advertising that is supposedly the price for these games. Lesson Learned.

MemberI think it's better not to use the Revo Uninstaller advanced mode on Gamehouse games. I had that about a week ago and deleted some items which I think has messed up my new computer. Windows Installer and setting up a System Restore point don't work anymore. I don't think it was because of a virus because the scan came up clean. I do remember using Revo Uninstaller on a Gamehouse game in the past and was then unable to download anymore Gamehouse games until I did a Restore to an earlier point but now I can't do that. It's always something.
BTW Tailteann you don't have to install the Chrome Browser. Just make sure you uncheck the box before you start the download.

MemberThanks for the advice Teri and I'm sorry to hear it messed up your game files. I still have Revo opened on the Hookman uninstall and have not deleted anything yet. I'll only delete the "real arcade" indicated files and whatever is beneath them (284 times!).
It's going to leave a mess, but perhaps what's left behind can be removed later if it shows up CC registry scans as empty keys (or whatever) and I can at least back those scans up.
And the disturbing thing is that I did uncheck (for sure!) the Chrome offer, refusing it, and I still have highlighted junk files that say things like "chrome compatibility", etc. So it (or part of it) comes with the games no matter what you uncheck.
I'm not too jazzed on -or- invested in playing Real arcade games if I do mess this up. The only three games of their's on my laptop are from the free giveaway last summer (?), the one that came with no strings or ads attached (4 elements and the two little shop games).

MemberIf you are using Norton. I am using Norton Security Suite and the other day I tried to used System Restore in normal mode and I read there is some kind of bug in Norton that you can't do it. You have to do a system restore in Safe Mode.
I have System Mechanic and it works exceptionally well. When my control panel uninstall programs wouldn't load. I fired up System Mechanic. It has an add/renove in there and it worked well.

Gamehouse gave me two free months of gamepass for announcing on their forums that Bigfish released Ranch Rush 2. It pays to make Gamehouse a better site. That is why I like Gamehouse better than Bigfish. I was kind of neutral now that I had Bigfish too, but I get more for free from gamehouse and I don't have to buy anything. They wanted to give me Ranch Rush 2 premium, but there is no way to buy a premium edition game from Gamehouse with a coupon. I already bought it from Gamehouse. I think I bought it was the day after it was released on gamehouse.
I will enjoy my two months free. I am just passing this along so that maybe people here can try to make gamehouse a better site and get something in return. I asked for nothing.
The one thing I don't like about Bigfish is you can only play one game at one time.

MemberI want to add the strategy of using Revo and then backing up the questionable files before removing them with CCleaner worked with no apparent side effects. I can still play my three GH games. :)
Michelle, I've never tried system mechanic but I'm happy with Revo uninstaller. It did it's job and I'm glad it caught the junk left behind that would otherwise be clogging my registry. It's really a great program.

MemberI called Support for my new computer and they talked me through fixing my problem which I'm pretty sure was caused by the over-exuberant RevoUninstaller and next thing I know it did a full System Restore including my data files. Unfortunately I hadn't saved my Word documents of the new computer so now it is a mess trying to figure out what I had updated. At least my new computer is fixed.

MemberIf I open up a bigfishgame I can not open up another Bigfishgame and play them at the same time. I can download as many games as I want from Bigfish I just can't play two bigfish games at the same time on the computer.

Obviously not, they released it and then pulled it back a couple days later. I think some people are having problems. I haven't had any yet with it, but anyway I was happy :) they released it when they did because I really wanted it and I had to get it from Gamehouse because I made plans to get it from gamehouse since I seen the listing on gamehouse first.
If you don't believe me try to play two bigfish games at the same time.

MemberI didn't see that statement anywhere. I found out by playing the games. Virtual Villagers A Tree of Life runs regardless of the game being up or not. This game takes a long time to play. To do certain stuff, to clear things. I liked to open the game up why I was playing Royal Envoy CE and check on my people with The Tree of Life being open at the same time and I usually just switched around a lot when playing these games but to do that I had to close one and open another and then close that to get back to the other game, because I like RE but the tasks in A Tree of Life take forever, but you got to check on your people to make sure they don't die and have enough food. Mine always die. I have to get better at that game.

UnregisteredMichelle, first of all many thanks for all of your efforts here.
As for running more than one game at once the problem is that you're using the annoying game manager and/or the indirect shortcuts provided to launch the games. If you browse to your Fish folders you can launch the games directly by clicking the proper EXEs, or create your own shortcuts to them.
An example of three Fish games running at once, with the proper exe highlighted amongst the game files in the inset images:

MemberMichelle do you have "Show Hidden Files" and "Show File Extensions" on? I look for the exe file of the game and create a shortcut. That bypasses the Games Manager. I'm looking forward to The Tudors. BTW Marooned was just offered at the end of Jan. I remember because that was when I had the Free Pass trial to play Mortimer Beckett and I was worried that the free version of Marooned wouldn't carry over after the trial, but it did.

Sorry Michelle, I didn't mean to sound doubtful, it was just that these two companies are such rivals and it was not exactly a secret. But one should never question free game passes. :) I'll be downloading a trial of Royal Envoy, I think the standard version comes out this week.

MemberI was happy for the gamepasses. I wasn't going to turn the gamepasses down. Gamehouse didn't even ask if I wanted them. They just credited my account. Who wouldn't want them especially with our economy.
Royal Envoy is a good game. I think it has 63 levels. In the CE there are like 30 bonus levels and extra content.
Bigfish is better for getting games first and having games Gamehouse doesn't have. Gamehouse is better for giving stuff free wether it be gamepass trials and games or extra funtickets. Also I notice gamehouse has more bundles for one low price or a funticket.

MemberMy experience with BF and GH is just the opposite - but then I would imagine each site has it's loyal fans. GH has never been able to fix a poorly functioning game for me (they can't even figure out how to get my Arcade account moved). Even with the multitude of games I have that work just fine, it seems the one the doesn't work is my computer's fault......... and I try all their fixes..... nada.... not even an offer of a replacement game. BF however has always found a solution . as for the two times BF couldn't fix the game, they gave me two games of my choice (that's two for each one.... 4 games). That's what I call caring about your members and excellent customer service. But, like I said, we all have good and not so good experiences with game sites and it probably balances out for all of them in the long run.
