I'm actually looking forwards to the new X-Box release becasue i've avoided buying a console for years. I'm a PC gamer, so really haven't been bothered. That said, there are several game si've always wanted to play such as Red Dead Redemption and Gears ofWar to name just a couple. Also my son has been asking for one for the past few months.
I reckon as soon a sit goes on sale E-Bay will be inundated with X-Box 360's going dirt cheap. :) I remember seeing the same thing happen to the last X-Box and the last Play Station.
I'm actually looking forwards to trying out those games finally. I'll still remain a dedicated gamer. I doubt I'll purchase any games that are cross platform to PC as I find playing on the PC much easier and much more versatile (and rewarding). For the PC I have several different types of controllers extra to the usual mouse and keyboard (I use two keyboards, one of which only has around a thirds of the keys a normal keyboard has, but those keys are nearly always used in FPS games plus I use a couple of different mice a swell, each one having a different number of buttons that can be assigned to various keyboard characters and even setting up macros). Anyway, apart from what we'd consider standard controllers I also use an X-Box controller (usually for sparts games like the Olympics, golf etc), a Novint Falcon, that enables you to feel you way around a game (great in horror based games like the Penumbra series) - it works on force feedback. I also use a couple joysticks for my flight and space sims (my favorite is a Cyborg x, but for games like Microsoft flight i find my Saitek Flight controller system brilliant. also a decent wheel with pedals is essential hardware for my driving games and a Track IR that allows me to look around almost 360 degrees in any game that has six degrees of freedom coded into the games code. (It's great for Flight sims, Racing games and First person shooters - Sadly, the only shooters so far that are coded to use the Track IR are all of the ArmA series and all of the Operation Flashpoint games (not including the original that was released 12 years ago). Okay, some of the above, for example joysticks and driving wheels are available for the X-box, but generally there are many more options available for the PC. :)
