I can't remember were I found this gem, but I have been searching for good converters for awhile now. Panasonic Dvd players will not play avi files encoded in format called
GMC and prefer a format q-pell encoding.
This doesn't do that, but it does a bunch of other features worth having for free such as MKV and HD conversion, but that is not the end of this thing is like a converter on steroids.
I found there company link and it looks like they gave up on selling normal conversion, so they just give it away for promotional reasons. There are so many converters, why not.
Anyway here is the the link to the converter

There really is to much to show here. I was doing a a blue ray conversion and a mkv conversion getting the pics, but I only used the MKV. The edit function which is the last actually has a gamma feature that most others do not, like todays fast free converter pro/winx dvd platinum.
Enjoy everyone

edit:
had to come back almost forgot,
lots of dvd players especially the cheap ones will play Xvid. You can google it, which would be a good place to start. But what I do. Is I use Divx's divx player to burn the the Xvids. You can get 4 to 5 movies per dvd, easily with no conversion on alot dvd players. try yours and see Xvid is a much better format
