I downloaded and installed 4 Elements yesterday. When I try to enter a name, it accepts one letter, then skips a space. When I attempt to enter a second letter, it brings up the start menu. I played through 16 levels and quit the game. It said it would save my game. When I started the game later in the day, it started all over at the first level. I played 8 levels and quit again. Today, I started the game again and it begins again at level 1. Why is this happening? I will not start the game again unless I'm sure it will save the game when I leave it.
4 Elements will not save my game.

I kept this in my folder from the last time it was offered. It has something to do with the letters of the nick you use....
"For people having issues with the “E” or other keys causing issues, go to the folder…Playrix Entertainment–>4 Elements–>Base right click on KeyMap file and select edit. You will see 9 different key settings. change the number or letter in the “” to another key you do not use. I set mine for the misc keys like +,, etc. Select save, you will have to have admin priv to the “base” folder. As with anything when messing with files make a backup of the file before you mess with it. Also you can just delete the KeyMap file, but it will throw up a error box when it starts. You can just click through the error box into the game. Hope this makes sense for the people having issues. I have no explanation why some of of have issues with the KeyMap file and others dont."
I hope this helps.

Or a simpler work around is to just use a different "name". My name has an e in it (which is known to be problematic) so I used my initials. Use anything you will recognize. It can even be a single letter. Don't play a bunch of levels without making sure it is working. You are OK if on the main menu page there is a welcome message with your name (or whatever you used for a name) at the bottom of the screen between the exit and view intro buttons. If that isn't there then exit and try a different "name".

Thanks for the tip. I now remember that the second letter I tried to enter was an E. I edited the KeyMap file changing all letters and umbers to special characters and now it saves my game.

:) nice one. Thanks for the reminder Delenn. Been to busy to answer queries via the forums this week (and probably for the next three or four months)

I don't think these "solutions" fit every instance. I don't have an E in my name and yet the game won't let me get past 3 letters and 1 number B4 starting! And like the others, it refuses to save my progress! I e-mailed Playrix but they have as yet failed to respond! Does anyone else have a solution, or are there only a chosen few that are having this issue?

IIRC, "E" wasn't the only letter effected. "D" and a few others seemed to do the same. I don't have the game installed on this machine; so, sorry, don't have the time to check it out. It is a game worth trying the fix out for.....

I still had it on one of my computers. The keys in the keymap are 1,2,3,4,e,a,d,f and g. However, in a quick test, the only ones that caused me problems were the four number keys and the letter e. I believe, but don't guarantee that you should be OK to use a,d,f and g. Avoid using 1,2,3,4 or e in your profile name and you should be OK or edit the keymap as delenn describes a few posts above.
Make sure before you start playing that near the bottom of the screen there is a Welcome back message with the profile name you used. If not you need to exit and try a different profile name. Once your profile name is showing, the game will save properly.
