Just wanted everyone to know that I was a guinea pig and I downloaded from the link in
the article and everything worked as stated. One did have to give an email with code sent to email but code was
already in place after the download link was used and game installed. I don't think Graylox likes codes so I deleted them for greenman gaming codes but the link will have the codes, I don't know too much about popcap but I think I have downloaded free games from there before and can't remember if Popcap has theoir own installer and or client.

I don't know too much about popcap but I think I have downloaded free games from there before and can't remember if Popcap has theoir own installer and or client.

At least going by the e-mail I received after filling out the form at popcap, you get a link to the stand-alone installer -- same one as the regular trial -- and activation code. Otherwise, with 1 big wrinkle, Peggle Dlx installs pretty much like the Playrix offers on GOTD -- it's self-contained in it's own folder. The wrinkle -- big to some [like me] & hardly noticeable to others -- is that Peggle Dlx installs an older C/C++ runtime from MS. I don't want/need more bloat in Windows\ WinSxS folder [thanks but no thanks] so I installed to a VM, then copied Peggle Dlx to the target machine where I activated it with the code -- problem solved. Note that if you do install the runtime files, Microsoft Update will alert you to a needed hotfix -- it's a small one if you want to get it out of the way after install, or just wait till the next morning or whenever your copy of Windows checks.

I grabbed it and notified a friend about it - she's getting it now!

I can't pass up a free Peggle game. That gives me 3 -- Deluxe, Nights and WOW Edition.

Dragonlair, you can also get Peggle Extreme for free via Steam. It's similar to the WoW version, as in its only 10 levels, but if you have Steam installed, it's worth getting.

Stephen, I don't have Steam and don't intend on getting it now. All my games are total standalones and that's how I like it.

I'm having a fight right now with Flixster because they claim you can watch their movies totally independent of the internet and that's not true. You have to have the internet live to load their application before you can even see what movies you've downloaded! From that point, you can turn it off (or it may crash) but you have to have it up to that point.

I prefer my apps for the PC totally independent

I used to be the same Dragonlair, and only got into Steam, after purchasing two games from Direct to Drive back in Jan 2009 called Defence Grid: The Awakening and Galactic Bowling. I didn't know until I'd purchased them that they were Steamworks games, which meant the only way you could play them was to install Steam. I wasn't pleased, but really wanted to play both games so installed Steam; then I discovered the amazing bargains they had on a weekly basis. My first bundle cost me less than what I was paying for one game from Big Fish or Alawar and it contained six excellent indie games. From that point onwards I was hooked. I now have over 3300 games and dlc's just via Steam. I'd never have been able to afford most of the games if they hadn't had massive discounts on them. You may think so many games is a little excessive, but I find I'm never spoilt for choice as my moods change so do the type of game I like to play'

I still purchase from other vendors such as Gamefly, Gamersgate, Desura, GreenmanGaming and Alawar etc (there's around 140 free games available via the Desura client plus all of the other client based sellers do brilliant sales regularly). Many of these discounts aren't available via the smaller independent vendors.

There's always the worry that one of them may go out of business, then where would I stand with respect to being able to re register my games at a later date. In fact it happened with Reflexive games that was purchased by amazon. All games via Reflexive had to be reregistered whenever you installed them to a new computer. Once Amazon got their hands on Reflexive, they game all owners of Reflexive games several months to install and register before closing down the servers. I had over 800 games purchased from them at a cost of around $15000, so I wasn't pleased, especially because I tend to change my computers fairly regularly. Thankfully I found one of those (illegal) registration generators online so I can still re-register my games when I want. I don't like using such tools, but what they did was wrong.

The readme doesn't include Windows7 but it plays fine on my Windows7-64bit (except for the balls that don't bounce where I want them to bounce and hit that last orange peg).

I came by to post about the Peggle giveaway, but found Nowhere Man had beat me to it....lol. It has been a really long time since I've played it, but I did enjoy it. I 'think' I have all 3 of the Peggle games, too; been that long since I've played them...<chuckle>.

How fun! Thanks everyone. I'd heard of Peggle, but never got to check it out before. Installed & registered just fine on my creaky old XP SP3 system. It's great to deal with a good, professional game company, especially after what MyPlayCity is doing these days (I've about given up on MPC).

Wow what a neat game. Windows 7 64bit works just fine. I have some other Popcap games but have not dealt with them in quite a while. They have not changed.. Very easy and quick to deal with. Thanks for the heads up on this game.

It was interesting, kind of neat watching my wife play as our youngest son came up behind her & was getting quite the kick out of it -- of course he'd never stoop to playing such an inferior game himself :) :) :) I mean *That* would destroy his [self] image as some hard core gamer! :)
