   I have email lists consisting of around 2,000 names from my local town (swim club, PTA, historical society, etc.) They're in a MS Works database, 2 columns. "Code" and "Email Address". Some are duplicates.

   I want to remove the dupes. Want also to keep the "Code" so I know which list(s) the name came from. Then I want to be able to put the list somewhere (probably Outlook Express) so that when I mail out a newsletter about local happenings I know where the name came from if it gets returned as undeliverable.

   Last time newsletter was sent to around 1,500 people manually. Sent out 100 at a time. Wasn't too much trouble. But have been told there's an easier way.

   Have downloaded and installed around a dozen different programs. They were too confusing for me to learn, including ListServ. Do not understand instructions that refer to "HTML", "SQL", and all the other things.

   Would like a nice, easy, simple program to manage my email lists. Any suggestions would be mot appreciated. And, of course, FREEWARE would be great!

   Thank you pavid for replying to my post. Last night I went to the link you suggested and reviewed it all. Does not sound like what I need. Even so, I wrote to Cobian and maybe he'll respond to me. You help was much appreciated. ... And to be perfectly honest, I can not understand why I have not been able to locate a mail list program that is SIMPLE and EASY that would suit what I need it for, what with ALL that is available to begin with. Oh well. I'll continue my search. Gives me something to do!

   Mihov Mail Sender is a program for sending the same e-mail message to more people without them knowing that they were not the only one who that mail was ment for.

   What a terrific (or maybe horrific!) learning experience for me this project has been!I've downloaded and sort of tried a multitude of programs. Most were much too sophisticated/advanced for me. And could not comprehend "MySQL", but did learn what "open source" means. ... Anyway, the easiest and simplest thing I found thusfar is KGP Mass Mailer. This may do what I'm looking for it to do.

   notblocklox, have a question for you. When I sent out the newsletter in the past the "TO" line was to me. Then I inserted all the email addresses into the "BCC" line. So no one knew who else the newsletter was being sent to and this prevents anyone from obtaining my mailing list. Took a quick look at what you suggested (Mihov Mail Sender). Thank you for suggesting this.

   Last: Up top on this page it reads "Tags". I did not know what to put there so that this discussion could possibly help others in the future. -- Linda

   Hi SeniorCitizen,

   I've looked at the KGP Mass Mailer you mentioned and I think that it should be a good one for you.

   Compared to many others I checked, it seems simple and not crippled (Many other freewares are just limited versions of pay-for software with limits on number of Email or list items you can send/have).

   You might want to add this one to help put your lists in shape: ListMan Pro 1.0

   You will notice that the download link is from the Tucows site because I could not find a direct link on the homepage of the maker.

   According to the "blurb" on the maker's website, this program will help you to manage your lists of email addresses.

   Load in a list and the program will remove duplicates, find specific addresses, save an amount of addresses as a text file or a comma delimited file ready for pasting into your favorite email program.

   Program can handle huge lists. Simply load a second list to append it to the first.

   Lists are always arranged in alphabetical order.

   This program is FREE!

   P.S.: To make sure before getting you this information, I have downloaded, opened and tested the freeware.

   It is interesting to note that it is the program itself that you get in the executable as there is no installer.

   Thus this program is portable, you just have to choose where to put it.

   If you have a USB key, put it there or if not, put it somewhere on your C: drive (or any other drive you might have - internal or external) but do not leave it on your desktop as that might limit your computer's performance after a while.

   After all, the desktop should be for "shortcuts" to programs only.

   It did not trigger any anti-virus or other alerts from my protection system and the maker's site ( themeetingjunction.com ) is rated "Green" by Site Advisor

   The only (mildly negative) thing I found is that on my Windows XP SP3, the program's window does not render correctly (a part is missing on the right side) unless you use it maximized (a minor annoyance).
