A tortoise has reportedly been found decades after going missing.
Manuela disappeared when builders left open the front door of the home of her owners, the Almeida family, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 1982.
But the creature was found alive inside a box containing an old record player after the Almeida children began clearing out a previously locked room filled with broken electrical items following the death of their father Leonel, reports the Daily Telegraph
Leonel’s son Leandro told Brazil's Globo G1 website: "I put the box on the pavement for the rubbish men to collect, and a neighbour said, "you're not throwing out the tortoise as well are you?"
"I looked and saw her. At that moment I turned white, I just couldn't believe what I was seeing."
His sister Lenita was given the tortoise as a childhood pet and was thrilled to have the animal back.
"But no one can understand how she managed to survive for 30 years in there, it's just unbelievable," she said.
Apparently, Manuela's red-footed species of tortoise, can survive several years without food and can eat some pretty unpleasant things when necessary.
It's thought the tortoise may have survived by eating termites from the wooden floor.

Not sure whether I can believe it? But if it is true, it's an amazing survival story.
