Hi Txnnok, lol, yes it was very late by the time I woke up (nearly mid day, but then I didn’t go to bed till 06.30am, lol. As for being my preserve..... Nah..... I just have plenty of time on my hands so I tend to be the first posting details of the Steam offers. I’d like to see others do the same though as it takes a big chunk out of my day and I’d rather spend it playing all the games I’ve still not got around to playing (Most of the Direct 2 Drive games I bought when they had the fifth year anniversary still have to be installed and several games from G.O.G. such as Haegemonia, Obscure, both the Postal games, Celtic Kings and Decent 3 to name just a few); though that said, I still don’t mind.
I got COD 4 on pre-order two years ago and still have only played about a third of it. Part way through playing I got it into my head that I should complete the first game plus expansion (I've got the expansion, but never played it) and COD 2 as well before I continued with the third one (COD 4: Modern Warfare. I got stuck while trying to capture a bridge. I spent several days trying t take the bridge without sucess, so things ground to a halt, lol; then COD 5 came out which I've also hardly played. ( I just the first stage to get a feel for the game before intending to return to the earlier games). However, Aas you said above - too many games. I keep saving both for a rainy day, but there's always something else around the corner, lol.
I got an interesting game last night - Borderlands. I wasn't sure about the graphics at first, but it’s growing on me and now I think it's really cool. The graphics are a cross between GTA IV and Street Fighter IV, though the game play is FPS meets RPG. As for COD 4, it's brilliant game, the graphics are amazing, though I do think it's a little too scripted and other games such as Frontlnes: Fuel of war has graphics nearly as good as COD 4 and 5. Also, like most linear games, re-playability isn’t up to much. Still, for 40% off - it's definitely a bargain. I'm amazed that COD 4 has hardly dropped in price since its release over two years ago. I've seen much better games or games nearly as good (IMO) drop in price within months of being released. for example Medal of Honor - Airborne, which was released a few weeks before Call of Duty: Modern Warfare fell in price by half within three months of release. I think it's nearly as good graphically; maybe not in the soldier models department, but it had other attributes to compensate such as being more open than Call of Duty. I've been waiting for the next Medal of Honor for nearly 18 months now. It was advertised around Dec 2007, only five months after Airborne was released. but it still hasn't been released. I’m sure a lot would disagree with me saying there much better FPS games than COD 4 as many think COD 4 has been the best game ever to be released this decade. Personally I thought the two Tom Clancy Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter games were nearly as good as COD4 and those are now being given away practically.
Video and Images:
You can see several You Tube videos of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE and HERE.
Also here’s a few images taken from in game; (none are my own; I’ve just copied them from Google’s image search).
I’ve posted a whole lot more images most with a higher resolution (though photobucket automatically reduce any uploaded images to 80o x 600 (if you’re using a free account like I am). Anyway HERE’s a link to a slideshow of some great Call of Duty: Modern Warfare images.
