   I've been using Windows Calendar to let me know of such things as my scheduled Chats on my main board as well as birthdays and anniversaries. However, all of a sudden, the reminders have quit and I can't find out why! I'm working with Microsoft on the problem but so far, no luck.

   I'm beginning to wonder if I need to switch to another product but I have no idea what. I don't like to just search randomly for a product because so many sites are not safe. This groups seems to know just what is reputable and what isn't. Can you tell me where I can find a GOOD replacement that is also free?

   I use the calendar that is part of my Yahoo mail. It has always worked fine but I'm not sure how long it stays in memory.

   Thanks for the idea, Terri but that's not a good solution for me. I want something that is stand-alone and does NOT rely on the internet. Comcast is not always the most stable ISP!

   Dragon did you ever try evernote ?
   It's not just a calendar, it organises everything and even some more and it is free now.
   It's too oversized for my life as retiree so I gave it up and can't give you more tips on it. In former times I used it when it still was a rather new programme.
   But I know that a lot of GOTD users were very excited the day we got it for free and will certainly give you some advice when you are interested.

   Evernote isn't a calendar; it's a note taking program. Some would no longer consider it freeware, but adware, since there is a prominently displayed and uncloseable ad box in the "free" version.

   Mozilla Sunbird (http://www.mozilla.org/projects/calendar/sunbird/) is true freeware and EssentialPIM (http://www.essentialpim.com/) has both paid and free versions. Both are good, full-featured calendar programs.

   Thanks, all.

   I think I'll give Sunbird a try. I like FF so I consider it my best bet at this point.

   Even if I get Calendar working again, it may be a good idea to keep.

   OK, I downloaded and installed Sunbird. I imported my calendar from Windows Calendar.

   Now - how do I get it to remind me without me explicitly opening up the calendar? Windows Calendar used to just Ping! pop up with a reminder of the event without me explicitly opening up the app. Now it won't do that and Sunbird didn't either!

    Hello Dragonlair: You might want to take a look at Exstora. They have a freeware version that works just fine. The link is a little hidden away, but I'm sure you can find it.

    ReminderFox displays and manages lists of date-based reminders and ToDo's. ReminderFox does not seek to be a full-fledged calendar. In fact, the target audience is anybody that simply wants to remember important dates (birthdays, ...

    I have totally forgotten that reminderfox is still running on my system. It's an addon for firefox.

    My personal favorites calendar is 30 Boxes and Calgoo Calendar. 30 Boxes is a quick website that is clean and is simply a bookmark on my page (Can remind by email, and grab birthdays from facebook). Calgoo is an actual app that can remind me to do stuff, AND it can grab everything that is on my 30 Boxes and/or Google Calendar automatically
