   Today a more modern Electronic Arts release joins the catalogue, and we bet most of you didn't see this one coming. Time to choose your class and fight for the cause of right!

   Nox is an isometric action-RPG mix from the masters at the famous Westwood Studios. You are Jack Mower, an ordinary guy living his ordinary life. But one day, due to a cosmic accident and the actions by the evil Queen of Necromancers, you're being sucked out of this universe by your own TV and transferred to a fantasy parallel universe called Nox. We're not sure, but we think the moral of Nox is "Don't watch too much TV." Who says gaming doesn't spread positive messages?

   Jack, though, seems in a bit of a spot. It won't be a surprise if we tell you that the world Jack got into is in danger and he's the one that can save it, right?

   The beginning seems easy, you need to choose your class and get into action. But the choice isn't as easy as you think it is as every class has its own starting point, story, ending, and gameplay mechanics, so choose your path wisely or just prepare to beat the game 3 times. As a warrior you'll be slashing and crushing your enemies with the huge arsenal of melee weapons available in the game, but you won't be able to use magic. The wizard is a mighty magician with a spellbook full of magic tricks you can use to attack enemies, make yourself invisible, teleport, and more. Wizards can't use weapons, though, so there's no backup if the spells run out. The last path you can choose is to play as the conjurer who can summon monsters and wild animals living in the world of Nox and use them to do all his dirty work, while also healing himself and his allies and, last but not least, using bows to help your critters out.

   If you finish the game with all 3 classes and want more there are fun multiplayer modes that are inspired by the FPS genre like deathmatch, capture the flag, "King of the Realm" (aka king of the hill), and even a co-op mode! That's a hella lot of fun gameplay for only $5.99, so go get it now!

   Thanks for the update graylox. I have missed one or two of these I would have wanted because they were one day only on a Wednesday or a Thursday or something like that and I didn't check that day.

   You also get some extras that don't come with STEAM and you have your own personal digital copy of the game that runs on its own (doesn't require STEAM to be running). STEAM keeps your games for you so you can uninstall or reinstall anytime you want, but GOG is comparable in that you can always download another copy of your games from them. I really like STEAM and us it extensively, but given a choice at the same price I would get it from GOG.

   Yes, I would always prefer a DRM-free version.
   I even got this game, though I have Still Life 1 + 2 on Steam.

   I don't know why GOG doesn't include the Wednesday bargains in their weekly email.
   They only announce the weekend offers.

   Today they added Ultima 4, 5 & 6 as a package for $5.99 and they come with lots of extras (maps, spellbooks, manuals, cluebooks, etc. These are from 1985 through 1990 so don't expect modern graphics. GOGs only has one more to go now in their set of 8 EA classic packages they are releasing.

    Some great stuff here. I already have 7 of the 9. Guess I should have waited. Love how they handle previous purchases by giving you credit for them in discounting purchases on additional buys from the package. I can get one of the 2 I don't have for 55% off or both for 60% off since they count the 7 I have for the discount. Wish Steam did something similar.

    GOG.com's Plan for the Future Gets Some News!

    GOG.com will distribute newer games too in the near future.
    That brings up a couple of fears, e.g.: Will they stay DRM free?

    These are the main answers:

    Q: Oh no! GOG.com is never going to sell another classic PC game again and my favorite game never made it here!

    A: Don't worry, GOG.com will continue to release classic PC games. We are, however, looking to expand the availability window of games on GOG, so we won't focus only on PC classics anymore.

    Q: Isn't your name Good Old Games? It seems kind of silly to sell new games on an old gaming website.

    A: We've always been about our core values: DRM-free games, flat prices worldwide, and extra goodies included in our releases. So don't think about us as "Good Old Games"; think of us as "GOG.com", and perhaps you can work your way around that objection. ;)

    Q: I see your terrible plot! When you guys start selling games with DRM, I will leave the Internets in disgust and never return.

    A: Don't worry: we're devoted to those three core values that we mentioned above, and we know that if we ever abandoned them we'd quickly become just another digital distributor. Our goal is to become the best alternative digital distributor out there: the guys who do it differently, who respect their customers, and who can help change what the industry is doing as a result....

    I am thinking of buying(like I don't have enough games)the Creature Series. http://www.gog.com/en/promo/kalypso_games_2 They remind me of the movie "Gremlins". From what I can see, they have quite the community still and lots of free add ons. Any thoughts or suggestions? Any I should avoid?

    GOG.com Holiday Sale Begins!
    

    
    Our holiday sale is here! You’ve been waiting for the chance to pick up all of our great classics at incredible savings, and that time is now. Virtually the entire catalog is 50% off from now until 2 January 2011. While most of you have probably clicked through and are getting games now, let’s let you know about the fine details of the promo.

    Activision games are on sale until the 26th of December, so be sure to pick them up early. We’ll do our best to remind all of you via Facebook or Twitter about that, so be sure to follow us there if you aren’t for updates and reminders. Further, The Witcher 2 will be 40% off during this holiday sale, but the Witcher: Enhanced Edition is 50% off.     Thanks graylox. I am a big fan of GOG and have over 60 of their packages (several of these include multiple games). The free deal for Empire Earth Gold is now available. I just got it and will be further increasing my catalog during the sale. I know Alpha Centuri was one that I planned to get and would guess there are others as well.

    For about a second I could see the site - then it was down again.

    My wish-list is quite long too - and I hope, the site will stay down ;) and there will not be any holiday bargain on Steam or whomever.
    I need the money for a Win 7 update and a Wacom tablet and...

    Did you get Empire Earth Gold II for € 2.40 on DotEmu?

    @graylox: I missed the Empire Earth Gold II sale on DotEmu. I just got back from a Caribbean cruise and have been busy catching up. To be honest, I'm not sure if I would have bought as I wasn't the biggest Empire Earth fan and I have an enormous backlog. I'm not sure when/if I will get the one I picked up from GOG, but no reason not to grab it while I could for free. My recollection is that I thought they were OK, but nothing special.

    I do buy from DotEmu as well as GOG so am following their sale now. GOG seems to be working fine for me so good luck holding on to your money. I am curious, do you want a Wacom for digital art or how do you use it?

    Well, I see that Empire Earth Gold II is included int the GOG sale at the same price as the one day DotEmu sale ($4.99). Guess I will have to decide whether I want it. First run through the GOG list I came up with 15 more packages to consider. I seem to be recreating approximately years 10 to 25 of the 31 years in my gaming catalog. Or at least I am getting many of the highlights from that period. I still have the boxed copies of many of these.

    Sorry, Campy, for not answering. I have massive problems at the moment - or it seems, my telecom has the problem. My puter is more Off-line than On-line. And if that wouldn't be annoying enough, the system is unresponsive now and then for seconds or even minutes...I know why :(

    To the Wacom tablet: that's an old dream. I wanted to use it for photo editing, and now I like the touchpad - well, let's say, it's just a toy.

    To the games: I too downloaded Empire Earth just because it's free - won't buy the other parts.
    To be honest, I'm not an avid gamer. In my former life I had not the time for games; now I'm curious about if I really missed something. Therefore my interest in old games.
    Though I have a wishlist on GOG - at the moment there are only 2 games I'm going to buy.

    I wanted to complete the Atlantis series I got from DotEmu, but they are not on sale just now.
    Can be I'll get some more later on, as the sale lasts some time, that depends on how many "must have" games will be in some bundles or other temptations. And then - there are a lot of other ways to get rid of my money - e.g. grand-children :)
