With so many printers on sale, it is now literally cheaper to buy a whole new printer than to buy new ink. Is this crazy or what? I actually bought an extra one so I have it for when the ink runs out on my new one.

Now my problem is figuring out how to get rid of all my old printers (I have about 4 at this point).

Post the printers on Freecycle. In my area anything computer related gets snagged up fast when posted there.

Even with refilling your own cartridges? I haven't tried that. I don't know how practical it really is for home printers, or whether it's even possible with any of yours, obviously.

I heard that filled/remanufactured ink cartridges weren't as good as OEM ones. There was a PC World article on this and I'll try to find the links for it some time.

For my last printer (Epson) I bought a "cheap" cartridge off the internet. It lasted for 3 pages. That's when I decided it wasn't worth it to keep buying new cartridges.
