Has anyone else gotten youtube errors when downloading videos with the videoget that was given away here lately? I worked fine till about 3 weeks ago. Now it says host unreachable. Is your copy still working with YouTube?

Hi, Buzz, I don't use videoget, so I can't say if and how it works. However, I had enormous problems to get YouTube to work for several weeks. Since 2 or 3 days YouTube loads faster than ever before, it seems they were busy with some upgrade or to adjust that censor of the music industry. At least here in Germany. Did you try any other downloader? There are enough around, for every flavour.
Happy youtubing!Posted 15 years ago # -
Ya, I'm in the process of finding a good one. Any recommendations? youtube did do something about a week ago, so that's maybe why it don't work anymore. If I need a
vid real bad, I'll just snag the .flv file from FF's cache and convert it. But the
videoget was a super easy prog. IMO.Posted 15 years ago # -

Hey Buzz, have you tried videohelp.com? It's got all kinds of software, tutorials, a forum.... Not the best organized, but it's probably the best one stop video info. site. I've got a couple things from it, haven't had time to immerse myself in it yet, though. mike, over in the comments section, often recommends it and he seems to know more about media types than any poster I've seen.

Hi Buzz, VideoGet was the very first GotD I downloaded, and I've used it periodically ever since. However, I just tried using it on a YouTube clip, and got the same error: "Host is unreachable. Please check your Internet connection and retry your HTTP request again later."
Thanks to those of you who have suggested alternatives!

Hi, According to Firefox's Download Helper which I always use for downloading YouTube videos, YouTube totally changed their site which stopped all downloaders in their tracks! The Download Helper has just been updated to allow us to download YouTube videos again. I suggest using Download Helper if you use Firefox, it is the quickest and easiest I have come across. Actually VideoGet wouldn't work for me at all when I first got it from GOTD and luckily someone suggested FF's Download Helper.

Suze: I found that under options, click the "update application script now" and my
copy then downloaded like it used to. However, on most videos it gave one or another
conversion failures, and downloaded the .flv file only. But the newest version 3.0.2.45,
works perfecto downloading and converting with every site the author lists. I bought
it because I like it better that any of the other programs or plugins that do this.ps- the 1st time I tried the new version, it said "0 downloads remaining", so make sure
you have a backup or restore point, etc. if ya want to keep the giveaway version.Posted 15 years ago # -
Buzz: many thanks for your suggestion, and information about the newest version. I've made note of your comments for the next time I use VideoGet. I, too, have really liked this program. Thanks again!
