   We had a really pleasurable six hours of game play on our server yesterday. I kept the server open until I had to get up to post Sundays game giveaway, so don't know if anyone else jumped in for a match. for those who haven't had the chance to join us yet, we are a small group at present, with around 20 members, though only about a third of those are active at this time.

   We play in a non competitive, friendly and fun environment and are looking for more members to join us in the fun. Provided you have either an NVidia or ATI graphics card, you can get one of the games we play called Half Life 2 - Deathmatch for free. I can't remember the download links for the game offhand, so if someone could post them here (or I'll do it when I've caught up with several things i have to do), I'd be really grateful.

   The following are the servers I intend setting up for the rest og this month. The final one is a first time set up, so if anyone has the time to help me test that the server is working, I'd again be grateful:

   Left 4 Dead Zombie Death Squad: Saturday 12th July provisional start time midnight GMT

   Giveawayofthedays Half Life 2 - Deathmatch: Saturday 19th July provisional start time the same as above

   Giveawayoftheday Unreal tournament 3 death match: Saturday 26th July Provisional start time as above.

   With respect to the provisional start time. I am trying to figure out what the best time would be to set a server up to ensure the maximum number of players can comfortably join without having the worry that they have other things to do. If you could all let me know what your preferences are I'll try to start the server at a time that will suit most. I am quite happy to pay virtually any time of the day, though from 6pmto 9pm I'd rather not as that is time I tend to spend interacting with my children either through play or homework.

   Earlier is better for me as I have to get up most mornings. 1 or 1:30 (maybe 2 at a push!) is the latest I can stay. So I guess that puts me at a 10-2 time slot, without cutting into family time :)

   p.s. all times are BST, or EDT+5 :D

   No problems with any times for starts,can arrange medication and chase away guests in future.Turned up too early at 10.30am(UK)last Saturday,then missed later start.

   Best time for me: 8 - 10 am GMT any day. (also 7 - 9 pm Saturday GMT - Sunday for me)

   So the Sunday Midday start is all good (or is it Friday night - Saturday morning) - either way, I'm in.

   I loaded HL2 DM an hour ago, so I'm set.

   As a side note, if anyone is undecided about Half Life 2, you can download and install it and then start up a multiplayer game with just yourself. This way you can wander the levels and play with the weapons and items to see if you'd like to join in with us. Everyone is very mindful about keeping things fun for everyone, so if you're not too good you won't be singled out and picked on. It's all about having fun! If anyone has any questions on how to set things up or starting an 'exploration' game just ask! Whiterabbit, myself, and plenty of others are happy to help! :)

    Errg... If I only had a decent graphic card! HL2-DM runs too slow for me, don't have L4D. If there was Deathmatch on Xbox, I would definitely got a copy and joined. But then there's the matter of Xbox Live (I really don't want Microsoft to know about where my Xboxes are). Sigh.

    That's a shame GMMan. Hope things will improve sometime soon (maybe if you plan to get a new computer, or upgrade some of the hardware. btw, what specs do you have. I've got a spare NVidia 7600 (or a 7500) GS 128Mb video card that may help matters with respect to your game running slow. Though you'll need to have a Motherboard (MOBO) that supports AGP. Some newer MoBo's still support AGP, but it's becoming rarer and rarer. It depends upon how old your computer is as to whether it'll have an AGP socket. If you're not sure check out images of a PCI-E and an AGP socket, then look at your motherboard. You'll need to take the side panel off the computer - usually the left hand side if both side panels are removable - please ensure you disconnect your computer from the mains before taking the panel of. While it's open check to see how much dust has accumulated around all the fans. It may be a good oppertunity to get rid of some of that dust. (I use canned air now to clean away the dust in my computers. I used to use a sable brush and my own lungs, but no longer. Using canned air is much quicker). origin. They are easily recognised becasue the PCI-E socket it smaller than an AGP.

    I have two spare video cards, both AGP. I no longer have MoBo's with AGP sockets so they are of no use to me. Both cards are still useful pieces of hardware to those who have older systems (over 2 years old). One card is already spoken for as I promised it to a friend

    Glad to see some new members (or rather old members finally getting a chance to sink their teeth in) that will be joining us in the coming weeks. I was really hoping when I started the group that I would be able to get quite a bit of people to join and so far I don't think we're doing bad with 30 members in such a little time. For anyone who has a good enough computer to run a server and play at the same time, I'm still looking for some "moderators" (really it's more like game hosts.) As gracious as rabbit has been, it'd be nice I'm sure to have someone else host every now and then. As soon as I get my firewall problem fixed though, I'll be hosting some. Saturday's I am open all day as long as I haven't made any plans. Sunday, I'm available in the mornings and afternoons. But, you should know this by now rabbit.
