My husband is a song writer and musician. However he does not really read music that well. We have spent $$$$ on recording equipment and instruments sound systems but his music needs to be chord charted and have tabs etc. I have looked high and low for a software program that can be used for this purpose. I don't want a midi software program. My idea is a program that he can put his original mastered CD into the PC and it will produce the guitar chords onto a sheet music format and will leave usable line spaces where he can enter his lyrics. This would made getting his music copyrighted a whole lot easier. If there is a product out there that does this I have not been able to find it. I have seen other types of software but they don't sound like what we are looking for. All help and suggestions welcome. Hopefully we have some musicians/songwriters out here in cyber space! Please over look any spelling errors. I can't see clearly in this small font on bright white backgrounds. I have eye problems.
Thanks,

FreeDove, the closest program I have seen to what you described sounds something I've seen at Best Buy. Have you tried Googling for what you need?

You could try this site: http://widisoft.com and see if it's what you need. I know that MagicScore will transcribe midi files into scores, but I'm not sure if it will do Mp3 files. Or whatever your husband uses to record his original CDs. My son plays guitar, and he absolutely loves MagicScore, there's a lot there. It's been given away here at least twice, but it's one I would definitely pay for if I lost it. There's a lot of musical notation software out there, but you guys will probably just have to look to see what will meet your needs. Hope that helps!

It would be nice to have a software program that could isolate any instrument off a cd or music file and just have the notes or chords played and then transposed right onto a music sheet interface that could be printable, but the ones I've seen for professinal use that could do close to this are very expensive. Only 2 programs I've found to what you could use that are free would be one that was already mentioned

and this one which is almost the same except it uses a guitar interface instead of a midi keyboard is
